Projects have to be built on trust. I can fully understand the reasoning for trying to understand what your tuner is doing, but I would say that the way to do it is to discuss it with them in minute detail.
I know from my own experience with Area 52 that I trust the work that they have done 100% but that does not mean that I blindly accept 100% of what they say without understanding why they suggest what they do. Luckily Mike and Jase understand my need/desire for knowledge and are more than happy to explain everything they have done or would recommend and why, like explaining to a 5 year old. Those of you that know me well will appreciate that Mike and Jase must have the patience of saints :lol:
Oil is such an emotive issue though and it needs to be right for the tuner during the running period at least as what you dont want to do is give them any reason why they can say, problem xyz is because you went against our advice and ran abc oil. After all running in is very important, whichever running in technique you use.
The semi synth oil wouldnt be my choice in my car but i run it in the Seat and for most cars it is considered a superb high end oil. It's only because we become oil snobs/petrol snobs in owning and running the cars we own that we start obsessing about them.
