be good to see how you go on a Sprint or 2 this year against the competition :D
pretty much yes - if a job is worth doing it is worth doing well :) It was absolutely fantastic to drive back from northampton yesterday winding a little more boost/power into the car and just wondering at what it would be like on track with full boost and full revs.

My sprint license came through yesterday so I will squeeze a sprint at north weald or similar in :)

The to-do list is getting quite manageable now:

To Buy:
1. paint for wheels
2. Tyres

To Buy Probables:
1. PF 01 pads
2. 044 pump
3. piping
4. 044 mount
5. Oil cooler

=====================================

To Do Definites:
1. fit front splitter and undertray
2. fit front tow hook
3. paint spare set of wheels
4. apply TA stickers
5. cage fitted

To Do Probables:
1. fuel swirl pot and additional fuel pump
2. fit oil cooler
3. fit brake pads

On the rollers at Gary's next wednesday before the BP meet to fine tune the map for level 1 boost of around 1.5 bar flat. From studying the airflow compared to previous set up, this will be the equivalent of 1.9 bar's worth of air flow on the previous turbo if it could hold that to to redline (the most I ever got was 1.1 bar at redline) - so I anticipate it will be pretty nice and make the world go past in a blur :D

Forgot to say that I got the brakes bled yesterday too as when they were unbolting the subframes and lower wishbones, one caliper suddenly decided to start pouring brake fluid out :o That could have been nasty on the road... thanks to Gareth there in potentially saving my life !

how much did you lower the car by? im away to swap the coilovers from my Uk Turbo onto my RA soon and was looking to lower it a bit as well, not sure how much i can get away with TBH, as theres never anybody in it apart from me i would assume i could lower it a fait for with out having probs with the wheels rubbing against the arches
I lowered it another 12 mm but the real thing was raising the roll centre by about 50-60mm stopping it rolling through the corners. I could lower it another 25mm and still be with a roll centre above ground level.

Thing to do is look at the angle of the bottom arms (or more precisely the angle of the inner joint to the pivot below the outer joint. As a rule of thumb this should still be pointing upwards towards the centre of the car. If you follow this line and intersect it with the line at right angles to the top mount then picture another line from this intersection back down to the cetre of the tyre tread. This is the roll centre. There is a lot more to it than that with roll axis and centre of gravity, anti lift, pro lift etc etc

sounds a little confusing lol  , however the guy who will be doing the geometry set up knows his stuff and will be able to set it up for me, does it cost much above the price of the geo set up to raise the roll centre? (is it a big job lol)

:-D

ouch!! the bloke who will be doing mine usually takes about 4 hours to do a geo set up was wondering if he might be incorporating some of this into the set up too, four hours seems a bit long for a geo set up TBH

Results of preliminary mapping

Post by duncan »

So far mapped to 1.4 bar boost.

According to the logs I hit 1.4 bar at 3050rpm and then flat lines this to the limit in 4th gear.

I havent quite got the boost tuned properly yet for all gears but it does seem to want to go some.

As usual I have done a Ecutek DeltaDash Road Dyno run in 3rd gear on my test strip. As far as possible this compares to the previous tests in conditions with very little wind and about 12C.

Results so far at 1.35 bar in 3rd Gear:

Image

370 whp
358 wheel lb/ft

Not bad for starters 8)

(factored out 50 kgs of weight loss from previous runs too although actual weight loss of 30kgs)
