You wouldn't need a sealed box in the boot of your car for a swirl pot. You just need to seal the boot from the passenger compartment. If you just box the pot, you still have the pipes exposed anyway unless they're steel.

Oil surge was leapt upon because you said that the 0.5bar drop in pressure occured after a big sideways moment. It could have been fuel starvation but unless you kept your foot planted, that shouldn't have knocked out the bearings. Other possibility is det. do you have any det monitoring fitted or solely relying on the map to be safe?

Opening the engine will hopefully reveal the cause.

My engine had the sump baffled when it was built 3 odd years ago. I'll take a few pics of it so you can see what it looks like. I also have a std. sump somewhere so can do comparisons.

Baffled sump & Knocklink have saved my engine a few times, I'm sure.

People take the pee out of my car for all the clocks, dials and gismos BUT they let you know what's happening in real time. OE oil warning lights tell you one thing "Sorry mate but your engine's fecked"

Oh okay, your right Gerry....

Yeh, I am not 100% convinced that its oil starvation, but until its apart we won't know. when sideways as well the G loads are not as high, also I slid sideways with me on the right if you know what I mean so fuel surge shouldn't be a big issue.

I don't have a Knocklink or anything but it was on the Dyno at APT 3 weeks before and was running fine, so no reason to beleive its detting its tits off, will soon see tho, also surely if it was detting that bad then you would feel it?

PS, you built my Detalarm yet :!:

Every time my car's been mapped I've seen the Knocklink light up at some point soon afterwards. It usually happens after a steady bit of cruise and then flooring it, say when preparing to overtake on the road. You sit behind a car for half a mile or so at a steady 45 in 5th(in a 60 :D ) then when the opportunity presents itself, drop down a gear and accelerate reasonably hard to the limit  It happened to me a couple of times on Saturday before the head gasket blew and it was mapped the day before.

Quite honestly, I wouldn't drive my car hard without a Knocklink (or similar) and test it occasionaly as they have been known to be poorly soldered.

Your Detalarm is here when you want it Logan, complete with quality soldering :D

Edited to remove cr@p grammar

Interesting, but surely a brief flash is not a worry? Part of the reason for not having such a device so far is i think if you end up with too many things flashing and beeping in the car then it can be a distractiona nd you end up looking at them more than the road.

I remember being out In Derek (Digglers) wagon and his knocklink was flashing like a christmas tree but that was because the gearbox was soo noisy so he just was ignoring it......

Okay thanks Gerry, I'll get it off you at next Sprint we go to if thats okay?

Spoken to Paul at Zen with reagrds to baflled sumps, he has some Prodrivce spec ones coming in.

My gearbox used to light up the first green @ 4-4.5K

I take RED very seriously and lift off immediately. I can't see the point in having something if you ignore it, unless there's a very valid reason, i.e. it's faulty, in which case, bin it or replace it.

This weekend will tell if it's seen much det when the heads come off :o

I look forward to hearing your results Gerry. I have never ( ) had a det alarm/ knock link or the like and it is something that I will have to consider seriously for whatever happens next for me and my cars.
