Maffs 200sx
Right, rear end time.
Cleaned up and painted the rear knuckles.
Replaced one of the wheel studs as the one of 5 stud ones had been cross threaded. Note to self, always leave a nut on the thread when using a ball joint splitter, i managed to fire the wheel stud the length of the garage. :wack:
Got the goodridge hoses attached:
Cant understand why they're supplied with a copper washer, when the surfaces don't meet.
But no leaks... at least from there.
Got all the suspension and brakes on, with no trouble:
But noticed a bubble inside the arch so i prodded it:
Well not so bad, i can weld that... pulled off the plastic shroud to the fuel filler and...
arse.
The garage can do that i'm buggered if im going to blow myself up welding near a fuel tank.
Fitted the front calipers and on to bleeding, hmmm to leaks from the hard pipe to braided pipe connection NSR and OSF, bugger. Brakes always worry me so a quick phone call later and a my ever helpful brother in law appeared and quickly diagnosed the fact that the the copper pipes should have had a double flare to match up to the braided pipes, arse. However a little fettling later and Dan had solved the leak and and wed bled the brakes Result!
I should point out that it was getting Dark and by this time it was -1 out. So extra thanks to Dan, who contrary to his threats for dragging him out on his day off didn't be me to death for being useless with a spanner
Wheels on and again the GTRs look great:
but.... might need the arches rolled a bit though:
So back to the S14 wheels and down:

Well almost...
1)Due to the longer S14 front lower arms, the tracking is still miles out at the front and I cant budge the bloody locking nuts.
2)The track rod ends have got bits of split pin left in that need drilling out.
3)and one of thems leaking grease, probably dead.
4)The welding...ick.
5)I dropped the alarm fob and it exploded, so once its finished i might not even be able to start the bloody thing.
Cars dontcha just love em?
Still it is great fun, and im learning lots

April I think, got Feb to sort it all out and get it 4 wheel aligned at the place Gary suggested in Norwich. Then a couple of weeks to and from work to see its behaving properly. I the tracking is now roughly right, a scissor jack and 2 19mmm spanners were more than a match for my stuck nuts :-D
The car was driven gently to the garage this morning, and did have a bit of a tendency to wander gently across the road so my tracking by eye and string isn't perfect, but good enough to get me there.
Noticed the ABS light on, Id forgotten to attach the sensors, but that's easily sorted. Hopefully it should be MOTd by the weekend then off to http://www.autotest.org.uk/
