Snapped off manifold studs

Just picked up a cheap 1600 head for my Capri howver 2 of the studs are damaged...

Is this head 'too far gone' to be messing around with?Is it better to take it to a engineers to remove/replace the studs and roughly how much would it cost?What im going to do is replace this head for the 2L head thats on there (2L head/1600 bottom on there at the mo) run the 2L cam in the 1600 head with a DGAV 32.Then with the 2l head of the car start getting it cleaned up and worked for the bigger carbs and 2l bottom end :-D

This will only happen if I get this damn stud out :x

Probably be cheaper to buy one then come down and collect it-LOLBut thanks for the offer mate.Plus im bound to need a set later on at some point beings Im goning to be changing heads and manifolds about a bit in the future

If I can see one broken off flush with the head you will need to drill that one out and helicoil it. Be the quickest wayand also strong for the new stud to go in. Had to do it to my dads cosworth head as a couple of them had snaped off flush and we also faced off the face so it could get a good seal when reassembled.

what i did with a broken stud was to put a bit of brake fluid at the base and leave it fot a bit then get a clamp on it and should come off, it worked for me it broke down the rust and then i just cleaned it all up and fitted a new one

Ones broken off below the surface and the other has about 10 mm poking out.I reckon I can get the long one out with heat and a clamp but the one under the surface i was more concerned about.Going to wait til I get my new carbs first then do the lot in one go
