Adobe software is extortionate.
Just about to upgrade my ancient versions of Photoshop, Illustrator and the Macromedia products that Adobe bought... ouch.
There are huge numbers of illegal copies of this software and with the price being as it is I can understand why, but in my line of work I cannot use them.

dont forget about GIMP. freeware competitor to Photoshop. it is very good, well worth the price

same here, i installed it on the resource pc here at work (communal pc with scanner and other one off software bits) in protest at the expensive adobe licenses (even tho we qualify for educational licences).
it went down quite well, although i think acceptance was boosted by the comical name
