Gerry,

Don't understand 1A / 1B.

Is it a race tyre classification thing? Please explain :D

Sprints/hillclimbs have the rules, under which they are held, laid down by the MSA. There is a class structure that allows anything from your mum's shopping Micra to a current F1 car to compete in the same competition.

If your mum's car wanted to compete in a road going class, it must have appropriate road tyres i.e. on th 1A list. If her car had tyres that were a little OTT for Tesco's, say Toyo 888s, the construction and material would give the car an advantage and she'd find herself in a modified class.

HTH and sorry to drag your mum into it :D

No worries. The only thing my mum has been able to drive is me up the wall for over 40yrs, and still going strong

Thanks for that :thumb:

Cheers chaps.

I must be different to all the other Scooby drivers as I don't rate the Toyo Road tyres that well compared to my trusty Goodyears.

Got it round tho on the Yokohama's, they weren't in the Evo test.

Found a tyre which sounds excellent for Sprinting, but seems hard to get :!:

From reading up, all the Sprinters/Hillclimbers with lightweight tintops seem to rave on about the Stunner Scodo's whic are now supposed to be the Marigoni Zeta Lineas, but not read much on if people with 4WD's rate them :?

Tyres and brake material must be the two most significant items for competition. There's so many options and opinions it makes your head spin. For most of us on a limited budget we not only want to get it right first time but when it's time for replacements we go through this agonising questioning of 'is there something better available?'

2 weeks to go and I'm still on DS2500

Mothers are like kids. They get worse as they get older. I know, I have both :D

Edited to add: Dogs, on the other hand, get better as they age. What does that tell you?

Maybe in the next life i'll come back as a dog, with any luck!! I won't have to worry about engine rebuilds and all that malarky then

P.S. If you run an older Scooby and have 4pots like on the new age with 294mm rotors i hvae a set of EBC Redstuff pads here with some wear on them but plenty of meat to make them very useful.

If anyone wants them PM me :D

I reckon DS2500's are pretty decent pads for Sprints mate, they heat up quick...and the ones i had on my old standard 4 pots had very good feel. Only they couldn't cope with a full lap of the Ring!!

I run YellowStuff all round now and the difference is pretty noticeable. Very good from cold and love being abused :D although they are a bit harsher on the rotors. I think it's all down to driving style and how kind you are to your brakes. The smoother the drive the better.
