Did you used to run full trim at most events?

Duncan, an oiling issue with 1st gear, causing it to weld itself to the shaft. Trust me it wasnt driver error, or the interlocker (spent 15 hours working on that to make it so it can not go into 1st without serious effort across the gate)
Prior to this year, the car has ALWAYS run at full weight and full road trim, exactly like i used to drive to work with it. Done allsorts of events now at the spec, and i have finally given in to removing some interior.
When the car works, it has been truly awesome, it was running 560bhp/500lbft at 1.7/1.8 bar for a couple of years. For knockhill i finaly upped the boost to 2bar.
We had been out mapping for over 2 hours and chose to do a final run, and the first full power run in 5th, to check mapping was good for the top speed run it was likely to do at TOTB on the Sunday after Knockhill.
Got onto the straight in 3rd gear at 30 mph, planted my foot to the floor, through 3rd, into 4th, rev limit in 4th select 5th, and floor it, then boom!!!! Quite a scary moment, having rolled a car at 120mph, i quickly had flashbacks whilst the car was locked up and skidding at 165mph!
Clutch sheared, and we freewheeled for a whole mile before gridning to a halt. Towed it back to the farm, and thats where it stayed for 6 months.

What frustrates me intensly is the Marks car (the Grey Sti 5) i also drive, is built to indentical spec, and by the same person, and driven by the same person in the same manner, yet has relatively minor issues!
2006 Saw 3 gearbox rebuilds after breaking 2nd gear on a PAR, PPG and Modena.
2007 Saw the PPG dog box needing fettling in March, as i struggled to get 3rd.
April saw me select 1st from 2nd, destroy a very expensive engine build, block pistons rodas and all valves fubard, including the centre gear on the OS giken twn plate.
May saw a new engine build, only to destroy (split clean in two) the 3rd/4th cluster on the PPG dogbox at Scooby Shoot Out. This was replaced ready for Round 2 of Time attack.
Then at Round two, an oil pipe burst and set fire, ultimately destroying the bearings, and the front discs of the ap six pots (due to heat, and being cooled too quickly from extinguishent)
Another rebuild of the engine, with a few tweaks, and all was good, untill the scary moment at 165!
Hopefully this year will be better!
Spent today fabricating the seat rails for the car. What a fecking pain in the ar5e. My welding was getting better as the day progressed!
Update time, sorry no pics, just been busy trying to get things done when i had a spare moment, which have been few and far between.
Finally managed to source a plated 3.9 rear diff together with hubs and twin ot brakes, this took loads of time, and guess what once i had bought one, i had another 3 offered!!
Well three weekends ago (i think), i finally had some spare time on the sunday and manage to build the short block, and then during the next week i built up the long block, including timing up the cams.
Then had a lull in comparison to previous years, where i could only spare 30 minutes or so a night to do bits on the car, but every little helps.
Sunday before easter i got all the rear diff, hubs and rear rbakes installed and finished the hardware install of the fire system, together with starting the new brake lines (an expensive and time consuming excercise to rectify a fit of temper!)
Then came easter, good friday saw me and david wallis construct a new inlet manifold from scratch, aluminium sheets, bends, etc, but this is now not on the car as i still awaiting a part ordered a while ago :evil:
Saturday, i finished off the engine build after i removed some of my components from the grey lateral car, in snow and outside!! God i miss my shed and ramp!
Anyway, i managed to have the engine in a position ready to install for sunday morning, whilst david wallis sorted some of the electric work out, including the power cut out.
Sunday i got the engine installed in tcar together with a new carbon tripple plate clutch, and 6 speed dccd box. Intercooler and rad in, power steering back on, alternator and an old inlet manifold.
Monday saw the finishing touches applied to electric work by David and Pat, while i fitted the prop shaft, bumper and changed the oils on the diff and gearbox and prepped the engine ready to run. David and pat finished the electrical stuff, and sorted the fuel swirl pot and the car was ready to run, only it was 11pm!!
We tested the fuel pumps, and one of them has ingested something and destroyed itself!! so the car didnt run, and there were a few electrical gremlins that needed resolving.
Tuesday was my day of rest before back to work today, but couldnt face the dissapointment of not hearing the car run, so sorted the gremlins, and primed the engine and then started it, allbeit on one fuel pump!!
Phew!! it works, just a slight oil leak, easily fixed thanks to Zen.
Car is still sat on axle stands though as i need to do the brake fluid.
