DEPERATELY WANTED!!! 02 - 05 WRX (NewAge) ENGINE....

Post by ScoobieWRX »

Hi folks.....

I've buggered up my poor little scoobys heart and it needs a new one  :vsad:

So.... desperately seeking engine (it's my daily driver!!!)....... :o

02 - 05 WRX Engine with ideally low mileage or reconditioned.
Prefer a full engine with heads and bits intact so i have to swop minimal components, or may consider a short WRX or STi engine  if the price is very very right and again the mileage is very very low or comes reconditioned. Must have good sense of humour  :D

:help: :help: :help:

Either reply on here, PM or call me. My mobile is on members numbers.

Cheers :thumb:

Thanks for the concern chaps, what a nice bunch of people :D

I have a new map i was trying out and fiddling with which is actually pretty damn good, and during a 3rd gear WOT run for logging i was getting near the top end of the revs (7166) when i heard an immense clattering from the engine bay. Suffice to say the ends/bearings went and now it's pretty damn noisy when warmed up.

It was already suffering from bad piston slap (which quietened right down when the engine was properly hot) and i suppose that didn't help much either. 7166rpm isn't over the top for a WRX engine, OEM redline is 7100 and i had this one set to 7200 so it's not like it was running 7500 or 8000 rpm. Obviously the engine had issues i didn't know about and it decided to let go. It's probably going to be No3 shells/piston that's the culprit here, which i understand is the usual suspect.

So i need to do a heart transplant on the old bugger and get it up and running asap. As usual cost is the issue here and at the moment i have very limited funds as business has been very quiet the last couple of months, so i'll have to see what turns up.

My old engine will need new pistons, rings etc.... re-honing/boring, new shells/bearings. That in itself will probably cost more in the end than getting a 2nd hand engine, and it means it will be off the road for a good while. It's my daily driver too so i have to get it fixed asap.

How much do you want for your short block Duncan, and will my gearbox/heads/ fit and ECU run it or do i then need to look at new injectors, heads and other bits etc...

How short is it and what does it need. :D

Stockcar....How long would it take to do pistons/re-hone/bore, shells bearings etc... and how much?

Any other suggestions gratefully accepted :thumb:

Cheers :thumb:
