hi people im selling my skyline (r33 gtst) and buying a 1995 sti version 2 in white, im realy looking forward to it
i just need a little bit of info,
1 how can i tell if its an r/a = it has not got a roof flap dose this meen its not a r/a and hoe can it tell if it is
an r/a would like to have one as the are lighter and quicker through the gears
2 what sort of top speed would an r/a or sti v2 do as i have been told the r/a would be lower than the sti
due to shorter gearing
3 how strong are sti's i know if you want 350 - 400bhp the clutch and gearbox are the week link but what about
everything else engine etc
Thanks Tel

Re: 1995 sti v2
the STI RA has the roof scoop, no rear wiper and the ariel on the A pillar and also comes with DCCD, you`ll find most RA`s dont have electric windows, central locking, airbags, or any luxuries (a bit like going back 20 years but well worth it lol)telskyline1 wrote:hi people im selling my skyline (r33 gtst) and buying a 1995 sti version 2 in white, im realy looking forward to it

the V1-2 are probably the rawest of the RA versions and lighter than the face lift models (V3 onwards) the V1-2 has the shortest of gear ratios out of the lot, im not sure but i think top speed is around 135 MPH, drop in a longer 5th gear and it will be fastertelskyline1 wrote: 2 what sort of top speed would an r/a or sti v2 do as i have been told the r/a would be lower than the sti

[Over 400bhp is achievable on standard internals on certain models. It is however, wise to consider the mileage and previous use the engine has had before planning to tune to this level.]
Thanks Tel[/quote]

great info thanks dunk
personally wouldn't be looking for anything over about 350 at the flywheel on an early car..................pistons and crank won't stand it for too long

All STi RAs have as said above got a roof vent and a DCCD box, as you know an RA is lower geared so de-limited it expect around 135mph, a normal STi is geared for around 150 high 140s, worth noting is the fact that all MY 95 STi are RAs or V-Limited' models no stock STI was made.
If you get the chassis number is should go along the lines of GC8C47D
the important part is the second from last digit 8 = WRX, 7 = RA, E = STi (from V3 on) D = STi Type R and RA and S would be a 22B
On the early as said I would be weary of any thing more than 350 on stock internals.
