Which Car???????

Post by Suz »

As most of you are aware the other half (blackskygtr) has his skyline and to be honest I feel a bit left out :?

I have always fancied doing up another car and following the Big Power meet in Jan I have decided in order to enable me to participate at the meets and give me something to do whilst Jay is tinkering around with the skyline (can't do much else :-D ), now is as good a time as any to do this.

However the decision of what to do is now causing some headaches.

I have a limited budget for the initial purchase and I am hoping to get something I can restore and work on myself, so looking for something probably pre 1985 ish as I also like the old school look (and price). Not overly bothered if running or not as I would also like to learn more about the internal working so would prob pull it to bits anyhow (wait for the call Gary "It won't go back together!!"). Bodywise ideally needs to be reasonably solid but will prob end up at H Tech so not too much of an issue if needs some work.

At present I have few options and would like someone other than Jay's opinion

Currently considering:

Datsun 240, 260 or 280.
Opel Manta
MG BGT
MR2 MK1

I have found all of the above in various states of repair for around the

Well the 240 or 260 are both good choices 8) , The 280 is a boat though  .

Manta is a good car once you've dropped a 2.3Lt into it with twin 48's  .

The MG :o , What a pile of rusty/wallowy/slow rubbish   .

Glad you said that wasn't really keen just seemed to be a lot around cheap, know why now!!!! :D

Think doing the research 240/260 will be out of price range 280 still in the running.
