Should've just blasted your sound system and started headbanging as the cop rolled by...... Would have never heard the exhaust OR want to stop! :lol:

There are some seriously loud exhaust around for Skylines but there are also quiet ones if you look , mine is a 5siegen gives 98db at 5750rpm (no load) and never gets a second glance from the cops

Cars are the same as bikes , fit proper number plates and an exhaust which doesnt rattle the windows and you never get a second glance let alone a pull .

Jims was 106+ at the same sort of revs Rich but only 99dB at 4500rpm if I recall correctly.

Another consideration are the types of cams and downpipes you use. My 5zigen was 104dB at static tests as a guide.

Good advice though Rich, stealth is the way forwards.

i forgot about this thread.

i was stopped by two police bikes who were jumping out in front of traffic so had to stop.

the 2 cars in front were let past and he pointed at me to pull over.

the engine was just ticking over coz he said the "going over" wont take long.

thats when he read me the riot act on the exhaust.

but if it was illegal, why didn't he take the car?

V8 eatr, i had no stereo in the car lol. too much weight. :lol:

well she's gone now and i have a nice quiet 325i SE instead

but its a silly situation really with this stuff regardless

i remeber a bike mag years ago doing a drive-by test of a CBR900 at 60mph and it went passed at 87db

that was with the engine switched off!!

i hate all these quiet cars. i get pissed off with people on mobiles running out in front of me!!

thats why i fitted the air horns to the skyline :twisted:
