The plans for the engine are to take it to around 300 bhp 350 lbs/ft. I believe that we could get a diesel box and then change the final drive ratio but this is not something that we could do. To have this done for us we could buy and upgrade 3 gearboxes.
The reason for considering the taller 5th gear option is that this would potentially allow us to set a record for the fastest 2.8 4x4.
I still need to work out the ratios and mph / 1000rpm to see if when changing up to 5th that we will still be in our power curve.

Why would the drive ratio affect that?

It is only the ratio of the fifth gear, which in effect is a taller gearing. If the final ratio equates to 20mph per 1000rpm top speed is 120 mph @ 6000 rpm. Change the final ratio to 25 mph per 1000rpm and the top speed rises to 150 mph @ 6000 rpm. Obviously this will also be dependant upon the engine having enough power to pull round to the red line in fifth.

Sure is mate  . Although we haven't decided if we're going to change the design of the bonnet. Nothing wrong with how it looks but as it is a blank canvas we may as well consider the options :)

Time Attack prep

Post by pablo »

After reading through the regs. for the TA this year we realised that we had a lot to do, just to get the car to conform
We spent a week wondering if we could do this in time for the first round. Ws came to one conclusion. We we're doing this

The next week was spent discussing how we were going to achieve all that we needed to do as we realised that our budget for the TA was now about
