The basics have been covered but i must say that a geometry set up has to be one of the best mods ive ever had
Not knowing MX's very well surely an uprated exhaust system will help the power situation without casing to many noise issues, whats the standard manifolds like too?Steering away from sports exhausts for 3 reasons:
1) The noise would do my head in daily driving
2) Its not going to give me any power
3) I'd never have to worry about db restrictions
A nice set of buckets to match the harness wouldn't go amiss either.A harness, you feel much more part of the car and not trying to hold yourself in place under breaking and cornering makes life easier

" Uh Betty you should of seen this car in Ely today!! it had stickers and stripes
all over it, and when it started up, the noise!!!, I could feel my teeth rattling!!!"
Re the zaust, it looks like they do nothing power wise, I;d have to look at manifold too.IWANT1 wrote:The basics have been covered but i must say that a geometry set up has to be one of the best mods ive ever had

I am thinking about fitting a set of VX/Elise seats, maybe....
If you are buying a Mark 1 MX5 as you mentioned then getting the car serviced and all the fluids changed has to be the first priority before taking it on the track !!
Then it has to be getting the suspension bushes done on the car to tighten up the handling and then as Dunk says the geometry done !!! This has been mentioned a number of times in the mags and how much difference it has made !!!
Coilovers will be better on the track but will make it more harsh on the road.
Suppose it all depends on your budget really but although the suspension or servicing isnt particularly exciting it can make a huge difference to the standard car !!!
Have got a Jap Perf mag with 2 tuners opinions about what to do with

As far as been kept in your seat while going round corners is concerned, and as a cheap and effective alternative to the full harness why don't you get a CG Lock. I use mine all the time as a permanent fixture in the scoob.
I must admit to feeling a bit odd and insecure when it's not adjusted up so it's on all the time. Just for general driving about it helps make you feel more secure in your seat, and it stops you submarining out of your seat if you need to brake hard, and during the odd trackday or spirited run you pull it tight, and you're stuck to your seat like glue.
Mind you I always have the eyebolts for my harness fixed permanently in the car as well so if i need to use my harness it just needs clipping in.
P.S. Don't forget to get one for your passenger too, they will appreciate you more for it
