why i love tools...

Post by RPS13 »

Had a new car i needed to start stripping this evening and cutting out what i wanted. I only had a few hours after work to make a start, but thanks to a windy wrench and a plasma cutter the poor 200sx didn't stand a chance

This may look a little extreme, but once I get around to writing up one of my more insane project builds, it will hopefully make sense.

It isnt really a new project. But a big step in an old one.

Over a year ago I bought on impulse a 1966 Volvo Amazon 2 door. It has since been stripped to the shell and given a 3" roof chop, along with various other modifications to the exterior (mainly classic hodrod stuff). The side of the shell can be seen in the background of the pics.

Now I needed to make a powertrain and suspension decision. After so much planning and designing of designs based on some of the orriginal Amazon parts for the last 6 months, i threw it all away and started afresh with more modern nissan brakes and suspension. Loads of work to do to make this crazy hybrid, and i still havent picked an engine, but this steep should keep me busy until I work that out.

In the weekend I will find time to post up a proper project thread on the build with some of the progress photos.

I didn't know about that project! Very useful link to see what someone else has done, but also disappointing that my car wont be quite as unique as i thought it would. Luckily it is quite a bit different to mine in many ways, as I wont be using the whole 200sx floorpan, or the original engine.

Here is a little tease of todays progress, and a shot of the two shells.
