Xbox 360 3RLOD :(

Post by alexb »

Bugger! Just booked my 360 in for collection and repair under the Extended Warranty due to 3 Red Lights Of Death :x

Good job I just finished Mass Effect!

Wonder what will be out by the time I get it back?

Cheers,
Alex

Just the one - luckily the change to the warranty due to the amount of 3RLODs means I can at least get it fixed for free.

Spooky that it's gone after 13 months of ownership though - I guess Microsoft hadn't thought they'd need to extend the warranty when they planned it's automatic self-destruction ;)

Cheers,
Alex

Yeah I'm betting on 4-6 weeks to be honest. Gareth had no end of hassle but i hope that wasn't representative of MS support :(

Hmmmm, I was patient to say the least !!!! Took 5-6 weeks to get it back and probably about 20 phonecalls !!!! About 10 to a supervisor ! Didnt do me any good.

Hope it pans out ok for you mate. I am dreading mine going again, especially as Emma has got me Bioshock and Gears of War for xmas and I got her the Dancing stage with mat that she wanted. Need to be playing it rather than waiting !!!

Plus have you seen you can download HDDVD films now ? Obviously you have to pay and they are 5 gig each :o

Good luck with it mate.

Yeah I'm dreading the start of the phone call charade to get it back - just like certain Service Desks the inital call was very easy but you get the impression it's gone too smoothly to be true ;)

I saw from the last dashboard update that it looked imminent. Funnily enough haven't seen them myself as the console is FUBARd ;)

Quite suprised about the file size though - a normal length film in SD takes up 4-6Gb on a DVD so how can an HD movie be similar? They didn't invent 25Gb-odd Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs for nothing did they?

Cheers,
Alex

The official line is 15 working days from receipt which was about right for mine. Thinking about buying another base console as a backup to swap out when it happens again!
