Absolutely - will be tricky to prove or disprove either way.
The closed loop learning does lead credence to the vast number of people that believe that they get better fuel economy on vpower though.
does Tesco 99 go off more than vPower?

all i can say is i have experienced fuel going " stale " in garden machinery to a point where the machine will not run.
the fuel dosn't seem to keep like it used to so much so that you can buy additives to put in it to make it keep longer.
i know this maybe is not a direct comparison in fuel and time scales etc but it is petrol which is degrading ,
cheers

The deterioration is basically just evaporation of the more volatile, higher octane components, isn't it?
I always worked on that assumption when racing bikes, so I'd make sure the cans were full up rather than half-full, and used within a week or so.
But, Dunc - your observation is over a period of just half a week, is that right? Am surprised you'd see consistent results over such a short timescale. What you get out of the pump will surely vary by a similar or greater amount.
What do the logs say after a few more days, or a couple of weeks? At the rate you're going, though, I guess you're using a different map from one week to the next eh

It is very difficult to pin it down Andy...
Just something that I have noticed but it could be a number of different things to be fair - it isnt a huge amount and really it is all part of the mapping process. These variances would normally be adapted for by the ecu knock learning system to account for small variances in the fuel quality without me even knowing about it so I am not concerned.

The MBTE in the tesco stuff will take on water to start with. It has a very low boiling point. It will change from liquid to gas in a very short space of time when exposed to oxygen.
You need to use it up quick . When i test my kart and race the day after i use the same fuel batch for both days and keep all conatiners in the cold and un opened. The same for when i ran cars
