nice work Ian - did you measure charge temps before and after the lagging?

wanted to, but the ct gauge i had 1st broke, and it look a long time to get a new one.

the pipes are a lot cooler to touch in the engine bay, after a good drive the turbo side use to be very hot to touch, and the inlet side still hot, but after the tape is on, you can keep your hands on the pipes all day long.

when i start up in the morning, the charge temp gauge reads around .5 deg c above air temp out side.

and when normal motorway driving at 70mph, it is around 3 ish dec c above the air temp.

the only down side is the charge temp sensor refresh rate is very quick (about 1 sec if not quicker)
and the air temp on my apexi fc is like every 1-2 mins
so keep thinking of getting another one and have it for the air temp

the charhe temp sensor is in the intercooler pipe just before it goes into the inlet manifold (can see the wire on the top of the pipe)

just ordered a new exhaust for my scoob, and hopefully in the new year/ feb time get it fitted along with the gt-spec headers, and a map tweek at zen performance.

it is a full titanium 3" exhaust. the only prob is that it is for a new age and not a classic, but im sure i will be able to get it modded to fit. am going to use a slip joint style with flange to connect to my downpipe, and make up a new hanger for the back box.

seams like a lot of work, but i think it will be worth it in the end.
here is a pic now, will get some more pics up when it arrives

recived my new exhaust this week, and i can say that it is a wonderfull bit of kit.

weighted it and it is just on the 5kg mark.
this is the centre section and back box.

weighted my blitz nur spec, and that was around the 11.5 kg mark!!!

Hi Ian,

Where did you get your CT sensor/gauge? I'm on the lookout for one that can be slipped under the IC hose.

Edit - doh! just read previous page. Might give RB motorsport a try then.

Andy
