If I had a blank piece of paper I think I would honestly go for the Silvia over the GTR for day to day stuff, only choosing the GTR if I wanted a heavier, more expensive, less exclusive track warrior

I think that there is a lot of merit for a slightly simpler car in terms of mechanical work and driving fun. But it's easy to realise that when you're waist deep in GTR bits.
At least the Golf is simple enough. At the moment.
