duncan,
Option 1 or possibly 2.
Next season if there are 6 events as suggested, reliabilty will win the day.
Most of the big BHP guys had big reliability issues.
You will also be developing teh car through the season, which will results issues.
Option 1 for me is teh one. your car is not bad on power, i know it suffers a little on weight. but also think you could develop your comiitment into the bends a little more (no offence). I also think you could concentrate more on the tyre pressures and suspension setup, which again will give you confidence to throw it into and around teh bends a little more.
I do believe the bends is where the time is to be made.
As many of the split times showed this year.
But then there is the factor of what you want from the car. If thats a 600Bhp uniquley built and tuned car, then go for it!

Take regular exercise, walk to you car!
The other thing to bear in mind is all the compromises that come with fully forged motors. These are often overlooked, its not all as rosey as it sounds believe me.
Has the FP Green been shown to work well on EJ25? I am only guessing that it would not be able to support the air consumption requirements of a high revving highly VE 2.5l.
You would get a torque monster non the less. That turbo meant to flow 49 lb/min. I would have thought a GT3076 would be more the ticket. :?

yagshamash!

no offense taken Mike - bigger balls will be on the shopping list through more tuition
suspension has been improved with the new ARB's - that seemed to make a huge difference recently and would have loved them to be there for knockhill this year but alas not.
good point on reliability ... hence why I think that option 2 is a no go without budgeting for a spare engine for when it goes pop.
If i am budgeting for a spare engine, it might aswell be a decent one.

As said. Forget Time Attack. What are you trying to achieve there except the kudos (hate that word) to say you've spent a stupid amount of dosh to be in something you haven't a hope of winning. (sorry if a bit harsh).
If you're driving to the limit of the car, then up the internals of your engine, bigger turbo and see how that grabs you.
If you're driving is the limiting factor of the car, get some lessons. More return for your money than mega bucks go faster bits and it's transferrable to other cars
If you just have too much money, go for monster 600bhp and scare the sh!te out of yourself and be prepared for more frequent problems.
Buy a classic track car and go balls out with power & light weight.

I would have to say option 1 for 2008 this will allow you to plan and prepare for option 4 for 2009.
A trained and committed driver can in many cases be quicker over a full lap than a more powerful car.
Power is a corrupt mistress - the more you have the more you want  .
The path to enlightenment and true happiness is achieved through the control and domination of power and not the the other way :!:
