Roll Cage + Strip Club.

Post by Ross »

As some of you may know, my Evo is a similar spec to Gary@APT's, very quick! & also flighty & potentially lethal. With that in mind both Gary and myself decided cages were in order

So I began a strip down and cage. Also planned is a new bare minimum wiring loom, full repaint inside and some nice dash flocking. Lots of strengthening going to the rear diff carrier and front end. Chassis should end up very safe and stiff.

Here's progress so far. Loads of weight out of the car already :coolsm:

Cheers Duncan. The company that are fabricating the cage are only in Littleport. You should pay them a visit too [-X

I was going to say the same, it must weigh a fair bit even though it's being stripped of all non-essentials. That's a lot of metal, but what the hell!!
As Tk said, safety first :thumb:
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

Waiting now for another execution date!!:headhack:

Estimated weight of the cage is 50-60kg. So it will be heavier than it was before but at least I stand a chance of walking away if the worst should happen.
More power to compensate

ah. Do they do custom cages then ?

I really want a cage but would still have to have full use of the rear seats as this is still my daily driver.

can you pm me their contact details ?

Thanks

Looking pretty damned cool Ross. That will stiffen the whole thing up no end mate :thumb:

A full cage like this can be a big step for a lot of folks. It means a definite move away from road use being the priority, hence Dunks query. I would have thought a simple bolt in job would have been ideal Dunk?

You are probably right - cusco do a good (ish) bolt on for me that would still work with the rear seats. However, I always try and support local businesses where possible and if a custom one worked out similar cost - I am not fussed about the name.

Anyway back to topic Ross, this is going to be great having too mega power Evos - someone has to give Gary a run for his money at Snetterton :thumb:

I don't know for definite, but for competition, doesn't the cage need to carry a BS No. or FIA approval sticker?
