Renault found themselves facing a charge of fraudulent conduct, namely being found in unauthorised possession of confidential technical information belonging to McLaren.

Renault have escaped punishment for their role in the spy scandal, being found in unauthorised possession of confidential technical information belonging to McLaren, the Council have decided not to impose any sanctions on the team.

McLaren in July were found guilty of being in unauthorised possession of technical information belonging to Ferrari, which led to a sporting record

There IS the Ferrari thing for sure,

But in fairness (as a McLaren supporter above anyone else I might add) the fine and points stripping for McLaren this year was because of the information from Alonso and co about the USE of the information. Emails chatting about the sensitive technicalities that McLaren said hadnt been used or discussed by the team kind of blows the argument out the water that no benefit was derived by having the information.

In contrast, Renault themselves took IMMEDIATE action upon learning of the issue and suspended the parties involved and informed McLaren and the FIA of the situation. Not after a bust up with their driver threatening to use the information against them, not after it had been doing the rounds within the team for months, not after testing and disseminating the information for potential advantage. They found out, took action, where aparently open and honest about it and put their hands up.

Even if I wanted to look at McLarens position through rosey glasses, and look at Renault through the eyes of a Briattore disliker I cant help but feel that on paper and from an outsiders perspective, the Renault situation looks like a transparent one thats forgiveable, and the McLaren one is murky, uncertain and probably deserving of a slap. Personally I think losing the constructors title,
I have issues !!! :ack2:....I used to be average, now I reminisce !!!

I wonder how they got hold of the information.... was it given to them by Alonso to secure a seat for 2008?

Well all i can say is that we are not happy bunnies! But I am sure you can work that out :!:

The big issue is today, the ruling whether we get docked points to start next season!
