Indeed, I was forgetting he was in the 'standard' class.

Thanks Gerry for the clarification on brakes. So mine is currently class 1 apart from rear bar (could swap back) and antilift kit. Oh, and it has Black Diamond grooved disks as well.

Reckon I'll press ahead with the class 2 mods anyway (coilovers, currently on order and brakes from my old WRX) ... was just pondering the possibility of running in class 1 until I have more power from the engine.

cheers
Andy

TBH your car is more in the spirit of class 2 Andy especially as it is likely to progress further during the season.

I always think 'showroom' when envisaging Class 1. Ben still has OEM tyres on :)

It also says that if you switch classes part way through the season, any points gained can't be carried over. So presumably, if you started out legitimately in class 1, then due to mods. switched to class 2, you'll be starting your points total from scratch.

Yup, it is indeed :D

Had a call today to say the new coilovers are on their way. Not KWs ... I'm taking a punt on these new units that Apex performance have commissioned. At cadwell last month I had a look at some and chatted to the guys at some length. I reckon they'll be like my old D2's but better in a couple of respects - better rebound damping and greater rigidity due to inverted design.

Class 2 it is, then, with a huuge power hike halfway through the season

I look forward to having a look at these coilovers, and also duelling with you in class 2

So are there any ways to find out what the rough specs the D8 cars are running?
I want to run r888s next year plus lose a little more of the cars interior, but I don't want to be trailling some full on Time Attack class cars by 10 seconds!

D8 is anything from a fully trimmed road car, like mine, to a lightened stripped out, trailered, shell with an engine.

I used to run in the road going class till I put 888s on.

No Time Attack cars, except for Duncan and he'll probably be in road going anyway.

D8 will need a roll cage and 4 point harness whereas roadgoing won't.

Reference the suspension that Andy refers to, I think you'll find that's similar to the set up that Gary @ APT has been using recently. Perhaps he or they could confirm?

Have they changed the regs then Gerry, as you didn't need that last year??
