Another update :D

Just had and evening / early morning session on the engine and have just go home this is where it is at now :D

Providing we get the parts we need in time im hoping to have it in and running by the weekend :D

Got the engine on the stand and fitted the remaining cylinder head then fitted the buckets and shims followed by the cams and it brought us to this stage

Then fitted the baffle and oil pick up in the bottom end followed by the sump
Image

Then fitted the rear part to the cam belt casing followed by the cam pulleys and fitted all new idlers. Next was to time the engine up

N/S cams

O/S cams

A genuine belt has makings on it the belt is positioned with dotted line on the crank and the 2 other lines will line up with the top markings on the intake cams on both heads if they do not line up like below you have done something wrong

Which brought it to this stage

Next was to get cam belt casings on and fit the bottom pulley

Just laid the inlet manifold on to see what it looked like

So its getting there i will keep you all updated on the next stage :D

great nights work there Martin. :notworthy:

That cambelt mallarky looks so much easier with the engine out - it was hell doing the feeder shims at the bottom corners with it in situ :x

im gobsmacked as to how thick the cylinder walls are, thats seriously heavy duty engineering. i wish the walls of my 3SGTE were that thick!

The headers are being heat wrapped but will have to do them on the car as wanted to get it in a fitted will be a bit more fiddly but will all work out in the end :D

The engine is now in :D would of been nice to have a late one on it and get it running but we are still waiting for the parallel fuel rails and oil for the engine so will have to wait till next week now before it can be fired up :(

The headers and down pipe has got to be heat wrapped yet but that has not arrived as yet :(

Its getting there was hoping to have it running by this weekend but due to not having the parts till next week its not possible :(

Roll on next week :D

A word to the wise and not telling you how to suck eggs :D but........ It would pay to stuff some rag in each of those inlet ports. It only takes a stray nut or washer and game over.

Hope you don't mind my mentioning it

Good advice Gerry.

Looking really good Martin, some great progress there. On a purely cosmetic point of view, the purple paintwork looks great when the light hits it.
