Trailors and low cars.

I will be needing to put my car onto a trailor soon, how does everyone do it with low cars?

I used to have enough trouble before it had a engine in and wasn't lowered, now it's lowered with the engine in and very very low.

Not sure how to tackle this one without causing too much caos, i usually use towwin for trailors but not sure it will be suitable this time round.

Have i found the solution?? what about a car dolly or otherwise known as a tow dolly, keep in mind the car is rear wheel drive are these any good?

I have just built a trailer and you could rent it for the day if you liked mate?
I have built it to cope with low cars.

How much would you rent it out for?

Not sure if i need it yet, all depends if my dads van passes it's mot or otherwise i will have no way of actually pulling it lol.

Also i found out the trailer i used to use may be suitable as we were loading it wrong, we used to load the car while it was hitched to the van, common sense would tell you it would be better if it wasn't but we thought it would be unstable but according to the trailer man that is the way to do it. Doh!

We are Novice trailer pullers what does it come with fitted? e.g. breaks etc.

I am going to get some pictures sorted out for it now as it is a good piece of kit.
Comes with long ramps for low cars, has 2 braked axles and integrated lights.

You shouldnt be allowed to use a trailer at all mate, you dont have a clue !!!

If you are relying on a vehicle that has a real probability of not passing an mot to tow a trailer and another vehicle then you need to be shot in the head.

Load the car onto the trailer with it attached to the van, otherwise it will tend to flip the front of the trailer up
Look at the sidewalls of the tyres on the trailer - they must be the same size and pumped to the same pressure - to get the same squish to give a good idea of the trailer being balanced
Load the car forwards so that the engine is nearer the towing vehicle rather than the other way round to help prevent sway
Use a couple of scaffold planks or similar if you have a low vehicle to reduce the angle of the ramps (Put them UNDER the ramps)
Make sure the trailer is fully serviced and that the brakes all work and dont stick, also check the lights etc.
Dont rely on a single strap at either end for journeys of any distance, in fact just dont rely on single straps at all.
Try not to put the straps through the spokes of wheels as they often loosen in transit
Personally we never leave the car in gear as it tends to knock the bearings in the box, but obviously DO put the handbrake on
Check the towing weight of the trailer, the towing capacity of the tow vehicle and the overall weight and weight allowances for your licence
Double check your straps after 15 minutes
Dont forget about the trailer and end up over 100mph :roll:
