Street Class????
i have a spilt decison on this debate as when i first joined i came to a few meets and done the trackdays a really enjoyed them and meeting different people different cars and some great drivers but as time has gone on my cirrcumstances have change as i am working away alot, which causes me to have very little time to come to meets or do trackdays i curently have my 200sx track car and scooby sitting round my dads i am lucky to drive the scooby once a week and i have not driven the 200sx since the last snett trackday over 5 months ago but i still want to be part of BP but because of the little time i have to do such events i feel abit of an outsider from the people who are doing the event etc

Sorry it's the best I could manage after a days work in Devon. 400+ miles 9 hours driving for 6 hours of work
Anyway, almost back on topic.
If you really want to extend the 'doer badge' scheme, how about a 'Race Ace' in recognition of the guys who actually participate in proper motorsport? The likes of Pike and Maxx? They're about as far from street sleeper as you can get and one discipline that receives no recognition on here. Does anyone Rally?
It's all very well the rest of us talking about lines through corners and lap times but for 'real' racers not only every corner is different but the same corner's line can be altered every lap by the car in front, behind or alongside.
I vote (well I would in a democracy) to stick to what you started and develope it along the same lines. There must still be a great deal of potential for expansion without weekend cruisers and polishers. Nothing's broke so nothing needs fixing. IMO
That's 4p in total now

I have been following this thread with interest.
It has got a little tangential, but i agree totally with Gerry & most others to retain the ethos of the club and let it grow naturally with the right sort of people.
It is going fine i think, i have seen people join who i thought were not really suitable for the club and they do not stay long as they have not liked the non Chav environment.
I am in fact seriously considering selling a couple of my fast road cars for a dedicated non road legal track car.
My 2p

Thanks Gerry. Seeing my name mentioned in the same sentance as a Britcar 24hr winner has brought a tear to my eye :-DGerry H wrote:

I have utmost respect for 'real' racers at whatever level. Oh, and for the record, I don't consider what I do to be racing even if it does have it's dangers Another contentious point for another discussionPike wrote:Thanks Gerry. I don't think anyone is proposing any radical changes to Big Power, the people on here have been very well vetted so far and I don't think that would change if the type of cars was widened a little.
Posts tend to be of an excellent quality and it's very rare that my old mum's rule of 'If you've got nothing nice to say then don't say anything' gets broken. The site tends to be very self-perpetuating and a few new people on here with some different opinions would not only be welcome but also have to go a long way to upset things.
The qualification level of the badges give a good indication of what the people who have earned them get up to so therefore a different badge would merely give out a bit more info. I'm proud to have earned mine but in no way do I feel that this gives me any sort of prestige over anyone else. If a new badge came along that I qualified for then I would be happy to wear it.
Everything in the Big Power garden is rosey as far as I'm concerned and nothing is going to change that.
Oh and....
...that was laugh out loud funny Gerry  Brilliant.

I was thinking maybe there should be some kind of garage styled badge maybe garage sleeper or some thing, what do you guys think? Keep it expensive keep it in the garage? I think this should only be issued to members who have had there cars in the garage for at least six months like me.max1 wrote:thinking there should be some kind of street styled badge maybe street sleeper or some thing ,what you guys rekon .keep it real keep it on the street . or is this taking it to far .
Could we get some badges made to sew on clothing?
Or is that taking it too far................

Driving a fast Jap import is like coming out of the closet, you might surprise some people, but in the end you are still gay.
