I am not sure this is what Mark meant. I read his request as a 'special ranks' badge for members who are also able to keep their car road legal and drive it - Street sleeper & track warrior? Reinforcing the club banning policy for on-road dangerous antics.

I would not like this myself I would not be able to wear said badge for the Celica.

My car is primarily a street car , i didnt manage a single track day this year did 2 drag events but thats it , my car will always be a street car first and foremost.

If that gets me less "kudos" on this site over a e30 with no interior then so be it

Rich - 'doing' rather than 'talking' gets kudos whether that is in a Fiat 500 or 1200 bhp Skyline.... hence the reason for these badges/medals and for your Drag badge :thumb:

its a hard debate...

im with most saying keep the club to people who use cars for what they meant for but i see allsorts of customers

i have many who use cars like us but i have more that have fantastic cars and have no interest in the track or drag

these guys arnt chav's with neons but surely somehow these guys can be welcomed

We belong to another car club whose focus is static shows. Thye have little or no interest in track action yet a very focal when it comes to commenting about our home built track car.
Bet they feel stupid now :P

Anyway my point is there is nothing more annoying, well pissess me off :twisted: Than someone passing judgement or making a comment about something that they no nothing about, or have never done.
This is my only concern with opening the club up to those who have no interest in what we do. There are so many clubs and forums about, many of us belong to more than one forum/club, that there is choice.

Some interesting points all around. I'm still swaying towards the 'do or die' but bear with me.

Playing Devils advocate for a moment...........

How about example A)

Mr A joins the club in 2006. He is an active participant in track days and an asset to the forum. In late 2006 he sells his car through a change in circumstances and decides to see what happens. In 2007 his membership is up for renewal. He doesn't own a suitable car for track work and has no inclination towards track, drag or drift work. He still contributes to the forum on a regular basis.

Should he be kicked out and quietly allowed to lose interest in the whole thing??

I don't think that's an easy one to answer.

can see all points on this and i do not condone any thing like illegal antics on our roads .
but i myself have always kept what i do to cars still in the realms of street legal as i think there is not many among us that have not come through the ranks of moped to capri to rs saphire to 300hp+power hungry road warriors.maybe i am wrong .it is however nice to build these cars and test them to the limits of our abilities on the track .on the other hand i think every one can say on that late ,cool night on there way home from a meet or social gathering it has been nice to just squeeze on the power a little bit to get that rush we all crave of speed and power .this i think is where my roots are at and it all started on the street for me .or do we all religiously stick to the speed limits imposed upon us ,i think not .
think i started something here which no one would fully admit to doing as that would be silly I finish by saying ;
WHATEVER THE QUESTION THE ANSWER IS MORE NITROUS !
