Opinions will vary as to its corrosive nature for sure but it has been good for others in the Subaru community for an additional 40-50bhp if mapped for it. They tend to run 10% in the tank which it should be able to cope with without mapping but best to check with your mapper first, but yo get the best from it you need a separate map for it.

I would not want to run it everyday though.

Cost wise - it is less than the petrol it replaces so I think it is rather good value :D

For me it is going into my water injection tank (2 injectors, both after the intercooler but at different lengths of the tract up to the Intake manifold) but diluted. Well when I get some that is.

Not mapping my car for use with it, the main thing is to bring the intake temps down quickly.

However I think with continual use you will need to map for it and it also depends on the concentration you use.

Dunk I am sure will tell more.

hmm

First stage of mapping done .... very interesting so far 8)

Will go out for more this afternoon after I analyse the first set of logs fully (and get some work done).

Suffice to say - I am quite pleased with it so far

I imagine with he right kind of mapping and mods to the fuel lines you could probably run the car entirely on Methanol/Ethanol. At
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

Waiting now for another execution date!!:headhack:

Methanol 123 RON

So combined in 10% mix is about 104

Results so far:

- Managed to take the mapped boost up 0.15 bar
- Plus add an additional 2.5 degrees of timing pretty much all the way up the range.

Two minor knock correction points which were there anyway but are now marginally exagerated due to the agressive nature of it flying up through the load points on the map.

Methanol does lean it out and I have seen the afr's go from around 11:1 to 11.6:1 with this mix using a wideband Innovate Meter. My car is fuelled rich for safety so anyone trying this out should bear this in mind.

I havent done a Road Dyno by way of comparison yet but I can hand on heart say that it feels scarey boosting to that level and getting away with it.

I remember going out in Scotts when he had mapped his RX7, made an amazing difference.

Plus will never forget the intake manifold being freezing after a run !!!!

What is your setup Dunk ? How and where is it being injected ?
