330hp Pulsar Gti-r, 153hp Metro and 185hp Smart Car!
Hello again,
Thanks for the welcome messages - thought I'd share a bit more of my car background.
My first car project was customising a VW beetle , back in 1974 - like we did in those days! - you know the stuff, flared arches, poncy interior, flash paint job, huge wheels - ending up with a real head turning vehicle that was never that quick but stuck to the road like brown stuff to a blanket.
After years of doing more sensible things I ventured back into cars by building a Tiger Super Six (Lotus 7 replica) in 2000. That was very quick and very smartbut after a while I began to feel like the oldest swinger in town poncing about in that - at my age! It did get me into a fair amount of experience of all kinds of kit cars and rapid track driving though. That one was sold on to a lad who picked it up on a cold December morning and drove it home to Newcastle - well 'ard these geordie lads!
Next was a TVR 350i V8 which I had to restore from a pretty sad condition. After a year it became the proverbial silk purse from a sow's ear and I sold it before I either killed myself or I lost my licence, because that was very very rapid and too tempting under the right foot on the roads. That's now a rumbling blurr in Essex.
I've just sold my most recent project, a 1976 TVR 1600M. This car was a bit sad when I got it but after a lot of time spent replacing previously bodged bits, upgrading the interior and rebuilding the engine last winter, it got to the stage when there was nothing else to do but drive it and look at it. This is the stage when I get bored so it's time to sell on and look for a new project. It was one of those offers you can't refuse things - even though I wish I'd kept it now!
If anyone is interested - I'll post some pics of these, if I can work out how to do it!?
I'm not sure what the next one will be - that's why I'm hoping to be inspired by the activities and vehicles of you Big Power lads. I have thought of building a Cobra or maybe restoring another TVR, 3000M turbo or similar, or maybe something even older - like a Grantura, Griff or Vixen - there are some nice V8 examples out there? - or who knows - maybe a skyline?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what's about and what you lot get up to on the track.
Cheers for now,
Alan

Hello Alex,AlexWilson wrote:welcome! you may have seen me about dereham in an all black civic
Yes I think I've seen it about - is it the type R that's for sale at the moment - if so, I was thinking of buying it but had to go for a more sensible car for carting geriatric grannies about in and wifey shopping trips instead.
my toy will come later.

Another Dereham member, always wanted a Speed Six, but have some other priorities at the mo

My TVRs have never been so ambitious as a speed six I'm afraid. If youre thinking of one though, I would advise that you firstly need loads of money or secondly that you can workon it yourself. I met a bloke with a speed six engined TVR that has done 38,000 miles and has spent

May have to chat with you about the Tiger I have been building one for years but still haven't finished it
Hello Rob,
That Super Six is looking good - mine was the same, black with a pinto engine. You have got to get it on the road! They are a lot of fun and not as much of a problem to get running right and through SVA as some may have you think. You may have come across a few things that didn't quite fit or don't quite work as described in the build manual but it's well achievable!
You are more than welcome to get in touch through email: info@aandjdesign.co.uk we could have a chat about any problems you may have with it and I will be happy to advise or help if you need it.
It just MUST be finished and driven - that's what they're for after all.
I might even decide to build another myself eventually.
Alan
