Good points dude....

car wise, there are a lot of better cars out there than 7 year old Imprezas

We shall see tho...

Nice info on the Turbo's. What I heard was that you can run a 18g realy hard in teh mid range, and put some serious boost through it, compared to the 20g, that doesn't respond so well to the same thing.

Thinmk if I could get hold of a VF34 I would be happy pushing that hard for a bit. Don't want to make my car too mental!

When me and Gerry go to Barkston and beat everything thats vaguely road legal and some others besides, I wonder what I could better my 15 year old wrx with. Same car with a forged motor and bigger blower? I guess a jedi or radical would be ultimate for speed but I couldnt go down the shops in one :) I think when your car is prepped and rolling you won't want to part with it.

The 20g will lose 200rpm in spool maybe, but beyond that it will run more efficiently on boost than the 18g, so 1.5bar on a 20g will make more torque than the same on an 18g. I've only been in a couple of 20g cars and tbh the spool up didnt feel markedly different to the 16g. On a 2.5 its fab. Gerrys car will lug out of bends in 3rd where I'm faster going to second.

Got a VF35 in the cupboard but seems a shame to be forged up and not take advantage of the fact :)

Shouldn't you be building that engine and posting pics and details instead of sitting at a computer?

Stop dreaming of next year and get on with it, Spence's car will be old enough for the London to Brighton veteran run at this rate :D
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!

All good points, I suppose what I was trying to say, is that there are a lot of different cars out there, I have had 4 Jap boxes now. Starting to think a slight change of tack is in order...I usually get a 2 year itch for a new car, and guess what, its nearly 2 years since I bought the RA :!:

Hmm, so if I were to get a 20g and run it hard, you reckon it would be a good turbo for my application??

VF35, I heard they aren't quite as good as the VF34's. don't take the boost so well or something.

2 year itch

I've owned my GTR 2 and a bit years and can empaphise with you. I'm just hoping when I get mine back on the road it will feel like a new car. It bloody should do, there won't be a lot left of the old one :D

Imprezas are fine cars for the money and there won't be that much that performs as well in all weather conditions for the same dosh in my humble opinion.

Quick update, had to wait for some gaskets and seals, they turned up a couple of hours ago so I did a bit more, head covers, oil pump, coolant pump. Missing the big seal for the modine now :x Wish I lived next door to a Subaru parts shop!

Yup, nealy, needs a final polish and rub down, full valet, and a couple of bits of trim fitting.
