It should be a feature of more aftermarket bonnets I think, glad Gary went to the trouble. Would hope Scoot do that with their
Mazda RX7 FD3S (Rex)
As some of you know I am getting my supra fuel pump fitted and the car mapped on friday. Thought I'd take it out for a spin today, now I usually push it out of the garage because it stinks when idling and there have been complaints that you can smell the fumes in the house for hours afterwards.
Anyway, I tried pushing it out but the blinking car didnt budge. thought it was due to the car last being used in the damp and the brakes / handbrake sticking but no. So I wandered round the car and what did I find....a puncture !!!!!!!
Managed to eventually get a tow rope clipped on and the car pulled out the garage and took off the wheel to inspect the damage.....this is what I found (I had taken a couple of the nails out but you can see where they were)........

As you can see....about 14 nails in the tyre !!!!! Really annoyed because the tyres are like new (you can see the amount of tread left on them).
Luckily though I still had my old tyres and wheels (as a refresher...they look like this)...
I had planned on putting them back on for the winter as they have UK tyres but the others are Jap ones.
So the old alloys were back on......ready to fire the car up and.........no power !!!!!! I havent used the car for about a week and a half since the Snetterton meet so it must have gone flat.
Needless to say the car is on charge tonight and I will take it on a run tomorrow plus also gotta run some wires from the battery in the enginebay to the fuel pump in the boot that I will connect when the new pump is fitted. The voltage drop using the standard wiring is a complete shocker !!!
AAAAARRRrrrrgggggghhhhh Blooming car....everytime I drive it there is something wrong......think it truly is the car of the devil !

Your car is looking great Gareth, think you need to ditch the reflectors on the side and get it smoothed out and also go for that 99 spec bumper.
Bad news on the tyre mate!!
You must have ran over a police stinger or something!!
Glad to hear it is finally getting mapped!!! 8)

Runner Up Top Japanese Car 2007
I had only driven to Snetterton the week before, havent used the car since and it has been in the garage. The heads of the nails were rough/scuffed so it must have happened when I was either driving back from Snetterton or on the way there.murano3 wrote:How the hell did that happen !! ... got to be some being a clever twat ... no way you can accidentally run over 14 nails.
Where had the car been parked previously ? ....
At least I kept my other wheels !!!!!

All very well said and done but funds are tight at the mo as the completion on our house is next fri and just paid out for a new sofa and bed !! Not to mention new kitchen plus all the white goods which will follow shortly after....aaarrrghhh.323ian wrote:Just get a pair of new tyres and put them on the car??
Jap rubber is crap anyway.
But cheers for the thought though Ian.
I had planned on putting the other wheels back on because of the UK tyres and then changing it in april time (when I will get the bonnet back out after I take it off soon for the winter).

Right, car charged and working again....hurrah !!
Must say the ride difference is 100 times better using the UK tyres and 16 inch wheels. Much smoother, no tramlining or jerks when going in a dip !
Roll on friday (mapping) !!
