What have you done in the past 12 months

Post by pablo »

This October will be the anniversary of our first track day with our Sierra Janspeed Turbo.
In that time we have done alot more events than we originally planned and things have gone much further than we could have imagined.
It was only by chance that our first track day was at Cadwell as we had p[lanned to be at Donnington that day but they were fully booked. We were so determined to get the car out on track that I searched the internet to find a track day.... Cadwell.
Fortune was again with us on that day as some of BigPower were also at that day... It was here that we first met Stuart who made us feel very welcomed at that event.. Thanks Stuart :thumb:

In the last 11 months we have done the following track days / events
Cadwell Park
Donnington x3
Castle Comb
Snetterton
Silverstone x2
Rockingham
Santa Pod x2
Nurburgring

Pictured in Performance Ford 2 months running - July & August
Mini feature in Fast Ford + Pictures from another event - September
Possible mini feature in Max Power - October / November issue
Feature and Front cover of Practical Performace car - October

Above eveything that we have done the most important thing is, that it has been a hell of a journey and a very steep learning curve which we have both enjoyed very much. Bart does most of the work on the car while i take car of the admin side. In the past year I been lucky enough to make the following contacts and arrangements

Sponsership with a tuner
A close relationship with a 4 wheel rolling road - discount
A contact for millers oils + Octane boost - cheap
Exhausts direct from Ashley Competition - cheap
Tyre service Punctures etc. with no waiting

I think i'm going to be buying a lot of beers this christmas :o

So the question is how much track action have you done in the last year and was it more or less than you had planned for

Snetterton x3
bedford autodrome
Raf Marham x2
Santa pod x2

There would have been more but the car has been off the road for a couple of months. The insurance company has also been sending my last 2 cheques to a randon address near birmingham  I finally got it last week!

The Civic has gone from bog standard to a supercharged,Lsd equipped sleeper that punches above it weight. Things have broken, Lots of money has been spent and in decmber it will be a year after my first novice trackday

Snetterton x 4
Cadwell x 2
Nurburgring x 3
Knockhill
Santa Pod
Silverstone
and a couple of drift nights :)

This was about what I had planned.

My car has grown from essentially a standard ish STi with a few tweaks to something a little more focussed on the driving I like to do :D but there is still a very long way to go before I get anywhere near where I want it to be and it could be.

I haven't got a clue, car's been out of action for 5 months of the year, 3months for the CAS and 2 months for the clutch.

Trashed clutch on dragnight
Thrashed brakes on snetterton

I've had a fix it year.

Well I did 10 laps of knock hill and then nothing for the last 10 months or so due to Agra having my engine for 8 months, And now I'm just waiting to get a new exhaust and charge cooler pipe work made up.

Plans for the rest of the years are to get it finished and run the engine in properly, Plus move back down south because I'm sick of living in Scotland   .

Next year should be a good one I hope 8) :D .

It's been a strange type of year for many reasons but i started by buying the best car i've ever owned in December.

Santapod x 2
Car limits day x 1

Realised that i hate living in the UK

Found out that i LOVE Thailand and traveling in general

Realised that i'm bored of my job and need a new challenge (and more money)

Made the desision to sell all toys and rent house out and live a bit.

Plus after talking to and seeing how much fun some of you guys have on track i WILL be getting a track toy and doing as many track/sprint days as i can when back in the UK.

So all in all 2007 has been a bit of a life changer, i include Big power in that statement because if it wasn't for you guys i would be missing some fun times with cars and some new friends.

Can't remember too much of it but quite a few sprints, track days & a couple of drags. Mods this year: KW suspension, PPG box, AP brakes, oil cooler, are the major ones with a couple more in Oct, I hope.

Don't want to think about it too hard as it'll give me an idea of how much it's all cost :o

I blame BP and you lot, ESL in particular. :D

No mag features as it's only an estate car and it would mean cleaning it :o
