I'm leaning towards a thrashed rad., drained and refilled her last night. this morning, no overheating, heater blows hot as normal.....still not putting it off. Will get something sorted. I was reading a few articles last night and these stock radiators have a good reputation of going to s*#t! We'll see, I'm trying to be an optimist here.

LOL, Bladey thanks for the moral boost!

Just incase it is the rad:

Oh and when my 200 started loosing coolant it was down to the tubby water feeds, worth checking too, i just hope theyre easier to get to on the SR than they were on the CA.

If it is the radiator, I have a stock R32 radiator. I don't know if it fits though. If it does, I'll have it when I move into my new house in Thetford on the 12th next month. Don't know if you wanna wait that long though. Either way, I hope everything works out for you.

Bryan when you re filled the radiator did you bleed the air out?
Is there a bleed screw on the SR20?

To lose the amount of coolant you are talking about i would be very doubtfull if you have a head gasket problem, especially if you have no smoke from the exhuast.
It sounds like you have a leak somehwhere, must be easy to see if there is a water leak from car if its parked up for a while?

WHen mine had the liner moved you could drive all day at 6000rpm and not see a rise in temps or lose water,

Put it on boost above a bar and suddenly your watching the temp needle rise as quick as the revs.

Let it chill for 30 seconds and its normal again !!!

These sort of problems can be a right bollok ache !!

J.
I have issues !!! :ack2:....I used to be average, now I reminisce !!!

There is a bleed screw on the side, had a go at that and normal so far. Sounds like the water seals in the rad are gone! Hey, at least it's not a head gasket!

Do they have a plastic rad like the pulsar's, Because mine did the same thing and it turned out to be a split in the plastic end tank that only showed up when it got hot, A fine mist you could hardly see came out of it.

Got a 53mm koyo alloy rad in the end.
