It's the little things (fine tuning) that helps us to get the most out of our cars.
We gained over 15 bhp by setting the tappets correctly
The rear wing gained us 10 mph through the crainer curves

Now were playing around with tyre pressures. All small jobs but they make the car so much better to drive

Ah, yes - the engine ...

Well it has been decided upon but funds are not available to make it happen yet so until that time it is just hot air and fairy dust :( If it happens - it will be rather special :D

Dunc,

I may have missed this earlier, but what spring rates are you running on the EXE-TC's and what's the total weight of the car? Does it see any b-road use as well as smooth roads and the track? Am considering options for my STi4 over this winter.

cheers
Andy

spring rates are really soft - far softer than any of the other systems.

I believe that they are 40/30 or something along those lines but the damping is so effective they can cope with it.

Yes - the fen roads are not the smoothest and it is no harsher than std - if anything it copes with them better. I run then for normal use at 12 clicks from fully soft.

For spirited driving - 15 -20 clicks is good

For track - 28 on the ring gave a good feel but maybe even up to 35 on snetterton.

They are really rather excellent :D

I need to weigh the car btw but the kit for the classic has diff spring rates.

UPDATE

New wheels fitted along with winter track tyres (ie RE070 but date stamped 09/07 so pretty sticky) - these should cope with wet track days and the inevitable mix of conditions on an autumn ring trip.

Photos of the wheels will be taken tomorrow after I clean it :thumb:

i thought it was about time to put in replacement front brake pads too. 8)

The old Performance friction .11 pads (aka z rated) have finally managed 22,000 miles including countless track days, ring trips and a few other bits. They still had 3mm of pad left and will do nicely as a spare set in case of emergency.
