eBay......the wait is a killer

Ebay addict here love it, stop watch at the ready set for 10 second before the auction ends sad i know!! Brought so much off there track car road bike evo parts you name it ive brought it. Having a bid later tonight will post if i win would interest most people off here too!!!

Not keen on giving my details out for the bid sites can see my feedback being wrecked by it!

managed to buy a few bits and yes it can be addictive , BUT .......... being as i buy from auctions on a fairly regular

basis an auction is an auction ie there is a reserve or no reserve !

if there is no reserve price it goes on the hammer price whatever it makes .

if there is a reserve price set this must be reached for the item to be sold.

there is no advertised elsewhere and may be removed early,after i have waited all week to see if i have won the item only to find it disappear:x

why are people so reluctant to give out the reserve price or at least a guide price , when i sell machinery at auction i

personally find it works well if people know the reserve price especially if you have the nerve to do what i call a

(tactical reserve) . meaning set the reserve at a lower price, this keeps people interested , then when the bidding starts

the natural momentum/ addiction of the bidding will hopefully make you a better price .

just my two pence worth guys :-D

It can bite you though. I've had a couple of bad experiences. The dispute system is weighted in favour of the buyer, so sellers complain. I've had a couple of disputes and although they dragged out over a period, one was resolved and I was refunded because of Paypal.

I'm waiting on an item atm that I paid for over two weeks ago. Started a dispute when I checked back to find the seller was no longer registered and their previously good feedback had 20 or more negatives in the last month.

I did get an email today from the seller saying it would soon be sent. Trouble is, I paid by bank transfer not credit card. But it did seem a bargain :roll:

Always check the feedback, some are boosting their positives by buying

I always check ebay if there's something I want although it's not always the cheapest so it still pays to have a look at other price check sites and as Gerry said, always check their feedback and read the whole page carefully as there's always some numpty who'll only accept payment in copper coins :? (or a little line at the bottom of the auction 'oh by the way this doesn't include VAT' :roll: )
