I do need to get a timing strut sorted though.

It's more a question of how to attach it to your nice shiney car Dunk.

Mine is a piece of old, steel, shelf cut out, to the prescribed dimensions, and screwed to the No. plate, basically it's an L section with a small return on the short arm of the 'L' IYSWIM? Then sprayed matte black. I think Ben's is a flat piece with two 90o lugs which he uses to gaffer tape to the No plate or bumper.

Great choice of car for the cover, that R34 is an animal if the mental note of number plate and spec serve me correctly. (Just can't place the owners name)

I hope to have my car suitable for competition next year. But rather than give it the 'biggun' now I'll stay in touch with Andy and Spence and see how it goes for next season.

The pic is from the same event last year, results show it was Syd Bennett's car.

As a Harrow CC member you are entitled to do the event in any car you choose of course, you don't have to bring the GTR! You won't score points for the JISC but you'll still get some track time.

Stuart - I'm a bit out of touch with the sprint scene at the moment, the last couple of months I've been virtually uncontactable for various reasons! - so I'm not sure what Syd is running at the moment. Gerry or Andy might have seen him at a sprint or two this year, so they'd know more than I would!

Logan - I think the entries are more likely to be in the modified class, rally cars don't tend to run interior trim. Just don't tell Gerry That said, rally drivers at sprints certainly seem to enjoy themselves, they don't always aim for the fastest time - I remember one rally prepped Sierra Cosworth managing to go through the finish line at North Weald exactly 90 degrees to the direction of travel, despite the finish being at the end of a 150 metre straight. Thinking of which, perhaps we should force rally drivers to have 4 timing struts, one on each side of the car? :idea:

The only Skyline I've come across is Gary Osman, last year, running in roadgoing, as I was. He took the class win at North Weald from John Start with Brian Winstone in his GT3 RS 3rd and me 4th. That was when John Start regularly beat me by ~4 secs.

Don't say too much more about modified Spence, my entry's not gone off yet

I did meet Gary at Debden once a couple of years back when I was playing club steward for Herts County, never managed to persuade him to come along to a Harrow event though.

Something tells me that a little extra competition will make you even more likely to enter, Gerry!
