I figured it was about time I gave you lot a look-see at what I am up to with my RS Turbo.
Having made 2.5 times the factory power level on the factory cast exhaust manifold, which is known to have a major design flaw (ports 2 & 3 merge into each other before the collector), I decided that it was time to try and sort a Tubular Manifold.
Now, you Jap boys are spoilt, because when you want a Tubular Manifold, it's more down to a choice of which one. Or, do you want to spend

So, grabbing the bull by the horns, I set about making a mock-up for the relocation bracket for my Alternator. Yes, that's right, I am moving the Alternator!! It is going to the rear of the engine.......

So, now I have a wooden version of the bracket ready to go to the machiners to be made. I'm certainly not in the clear with this yet, I haven't tried it on the car and can see at least 2 area's of concern. I have my fingers crossed.
Anyway, getting the alternator out of the way, leaves me with a bit of flexibility as to what I can do with the downpipe. So, after another Turbine housing rethink and a custom outlet adaptor being machined to allow me to run a V-Banded downpipe (for ease of removal). My current downpipe has this, but the new one is much better.......

Next up, I dug out the job load of Stainless bends I had bought several weeks ago. These are Hygienic grade brushed Stainless mandrel elbows. I have also added a 3" Flexy section this time, to make it all a bit nicer and more reliable.
None of the elbows that you can see in this pic were used 'as-is', all had to be cut and altered to the perfect shape and it has all been done on the 'other' engine, so, who knows what it will actually ben like on the car. I have carried out all the work very carefully and having taken lots of measurements though.
Man, I hope this works. There is still no guarantee that this set-up will even yield any improvements. It is nothing more than a big expensive risk at the moment......

I have since discovered that the Alternator is going to just too close to the Inner Wing in its new location, so I may have to look at a Brise competition Alternator (mega money, like around

Ben, in all honesty, I don't really know why I am doing it!! It's interesting to drive as it is. I guess I am trying to tidy everything up. I would like to have it a little more responsive and with less boost, but with its current habit for gearboxes, I don't really want any more power. Gary kindly built and fitted gearbox #13 for me whilst I was sunning myself on the Beach in Egypt. 8) \:D/murano3 wrote:So what mental HP are you aiming for this time !!! ...
It's had all the teeth off 3rd gear twice this year and its only done about 1000 miles.
