Peugeot 406 diesel help required

I know its late guys but need a bit of help again, my brother has come down from Kent for the weekend with his new born kid and now his cars packed up, any help ideas would be gratefully appreciated. Explanation of what

sounds like the ignition switch has gone wrong mate

may be a quick visit to scrap yard..

having looked further into the fault, when turning the key to the 'start' position it stops the start motor from turning.

As Gary says, it may be the switch has collapsed.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!

deffinately sounds like the switch has collapsed, or the locater screws have sheered and when you turn the key the wires are coming so close that the charge is jumping.

Liek gary says though whip the casing off check the switch then run off tot he scrap yard. The ignition swich block is seperate from the ignition key lock so you don't need to worry about needing a new key to start the car :)

ignition switch replaced this morning, all working fine now, cheers guys.
