E30 Track car

Post by jdening »

So, I'm thinking about getting something a bit faster than my E30 trackcar...but I have no idea what it's worth.

Spec:

E30 Saloon (better weight distribution than coupe)
Fully stripped out, including perspex windows, removed sunroof etc. Around 950kgs.
Race seats
4 point race harnesses
Brand new stock brakes (which work superbly in a lightweight car) - new discs and pads
strut braces
81K engine, fully serviced, with new cam belt/all filters/fluids <200 miles ago. And it's a fast engine - faster than the other E30 at Snett....:-)
OZ race wheels with nearly new R888s
Stock wheels as wets with unused race wets
Uprated suspension
Starter button/kill switch.
All paperwork, incl. V5.

The only things I'm tempted to do are to put in a roll cage, and to change the front shocks. It's not bad, but compared to the peach of an engine, I might change it.

SO, what do you lot reckon it's worth? I probably won't sell it, as the only stuff I'll get that'll be a lot quicker will be nearer the 10K mark, but I'd bet it's not a lot slower that Slarty's car... :-D

Go on, someone suggest a price.

Jason,

No, no - that's the whole point. I haven't decided to sell it - I'm trying to figure out what it might be worth. I know how much work has gone into it, and how much all the bits have cost, and it's amazing how expensive race cars are to build. It's not up to the same spec as Slarty's E30, but then again, I don't want 5000-6000 for it! Having said that, the best bit about it, and the bit you can't change cheaply is the engine - that's the sweetest E30 325i engine I've ever driven, and in the last few months I've driven loads (my own Tourer, and John E30 Farmer Man has about 8 at the moment!).

IT's also got (forgot in the last list!):

ECU upgrade (extra 7-8bhp)
Homemade cold air induction kit

I've also been looking at other prices.

If you really wanted rid of it i know someone that is after a track car immediately but for less than 1k thats the trouble so this is probably out of the price range.

Good luck with the sale mate.

You're right, 1K ain't enough. I'd take an offer between 1 and 2, but it would have to be the right offer...
