Why rough, its only as rough as you make it :!: The whole buzz of sprinting is the intense pressure to go as fast as possible as you have limited runs. I think its an excellent sport. There was a nice little twin carbed AX there yesterday going very well, sounded lovely as well.

At the end of the day, you only push as hard as you want to :!:

Cheers Lee. Well I suppose you need to push if you want a result. With those slicks, the car just doesn't feel 'under' you iykwim.

Like Logan says, you push as hard, or not, as you want to. There's not much point in not trrying for a decent time. Same with track days, you can go round looking for the limit of your car and you, or do it as a talking point down the pub, to say you've driven such-and-such 'race track'. :D

I did the same thing on a track day at Oulton Park a couple of years ago, only that time it was the passenger side

Go on, get your licence sorted. :D

btw, must get that roll cage fitted, there's only one panel I haven't dented :o

Sorry to hear about the damage Gerry.

Hope you're ok for Weds. I'll see you there.

Is it RS7 Pirellis that you've got? I have a rather worn set of those which I've not used yet ... would be interested to chat on Weds. I've yet to drive on tyres which I felt were 'snappy' (in the dry at least) although I've experienced knife-edge jobs on a bike for sure :o

cheers
Andy

Tyres

RE070s vs Pirelli tarmac spec~

Andys car felt sharp at turn in, but they soon started to feel overworked, almost like they have gone off (ie too hard) The car seemed to be pretty adjustable in the way that you could modulate the slides though, although there are several other things that may contribute to that.

Gerrys car seemed to understeer more on entry but felt more positive in the transitions of the circuit, so direction changes were very crisp.

In my opinion neither of the guys tyres got up to temperature, which is hardly surprising really given the short nature of the track, although having said that my lighter car got the R888's up to spec very quickly. I appreciate that these are not a direct comparison but thought it may be worth mentioning.

Very observant of you Stu, especially in such a short time. Andy's aware that his 070 have gone off, due to their age.

My car has the driver controlled centre diff which I had adjusted to varying degrees during the day. The last pax lap, with you, it was fully locked, so an even 50/50 split. I'm still learning this and although the fully open position is rear wheel biased (65/35) and more oversteery, my thoughts were that with the narrow nature of the track It would be better to have the front pulling round the corners rather than having the back hanging out. Wider tracks and in the dry, I'd have it fully open and rear biased.

I did check a couple of times and the slicks were hot to the touch, maybe 60-70 degrees pressures were raised by about 7 psi cold to hot.

Well done Lee, be good to see you at a few sprints.

Did a compression test this evening and 1 & 2 are 160 psi; 3 & 4 are 150psi. That's from cold

Last time I did this, a couple of months ago they were about 10psi more but that was warm.

I'm quite happy that there isn't a damaged piston so need to look for the reason for the uneven running and no idle.
