Carbon Canards Fitted!

As there is a local skyline meet tomorrow I decided it was a good time to fit my canards (and after a lot of pestering by Ian :-D )


The mounting kit that was supplied required the bumper to be removed which I didn,t fancy doing and I wanted to remove the canards easily if I needed to. I was told about fairing bolts by another Big Power member and ordered some of Ebay during the week. These have a rubber grommet that fits in a small hole you drill in on your bumper. The grommet has a thread through it, into which you screw a small bolt which makes the rubber expand and grip in the hole. As it was a sunny morning I decided to get the tools out!

After some mock up fitting and some measuring it was time to drill some holes [-o< I now know how stuart felt when he fitted his canards, its a bit nerve racking drilling holes in your pride and joy.





Took about 2 hours in total to fit both. I had to adjust one of the mounting brackets at the front but no real problems. I also put an extra bolt through the bottom just for a bit more support.







I,m just waiting for some side splitters to come from Carbonmods (hopefully tuesday) and then when money allows probably a carbon rear diffuser.

What are the carbon bits you've got coming from Matt/Carbonmods?

Well, I think the canards look good but they have highlighted something else in my opinion that you'll have to address (Of course this is only my opinion and for my tastes, so please don't be offended)

The standard wheels look too small now in terms of offset and overall size. My car will be coming off of the road quite soon so if you want to borrow a bigger set to see what you think, you are welcome to 'try' them.

Obviously you may just think 'bollocks :upyours: ' instead but the very track focused look you're going for can be made or broken by the right wheels..........once again only my two penneth :thumb:

I agree with mr staples - you really need to get those wheels beefed up - they take away the impact of the canards.

I remember how I felt drilling into my new carbon bonnet to fit the aero catches

They certainly give a dramatic look to the fron end and as has been said, it now needs bigger wheels.Thats the trouble with modding cars, one thing always leads to another :roll:

Yep totally agree about the wheels, I still like the standard one,s for some reason just need to be bigger. Most of my spare cash is now going towards my wedding and the wife to be hasn,t seen these yet!!!! :nuts: :argue:

Is the stingray decal already on or can you leave it off if you want?

Do you think the fairing bolts are strong enough to hold them at speed?

They hold bike screens etc on at over 200 mph Ian :D

Hmmm, have to disagree with them I am afraid, I think it is a good mod if you have a full Time Attack spec 32 but they look a little OTT on a standard looking car.


But if you are happy with them thats the main thing, as peeps have said before, modifying your car is a personal thing :-D

You finding and less oversteer/more control on high speed cornering (on the track obviously Mr Officer ) Been thinking of fitting conards for a while though the twin fin type as appose to the style you went for
