I'm a crap driver

Post by nronketti »

Hello everybody. Signed up here kind of by accident, after seeing my name mentioned in dispatches by my pal Big James. My history with cars is short, and not very glorious I'm afraid. Learned to drive in the 1980s in a Vauxhall Chevette before my brother wrapped it round a tree. I then had a Ford Escort that I drove into a snooker club by mistake. Kind of gave up on cars for a few years after that, until my boss decided I needed a nice new Vauxhall something. I crashed this too. The rest is all a bit of a blur of new company vehicles punctuated by courtesy cars and awkward interviews with the fleet manager, until I did the Staples2Naples run last year in a BMW 5 series. I enjoyed it so much that I came home, and immediately spent all my pocket money on a death-trap 635CSi that might be restored by 2012 if I can keep up with the galloping rust. I'm not that worried, as I'll almost certainly twat it into a wall somewhere once it's finished.

Live near Ely, along, it seems, with about 63% of people here. Used to race bikes for a few years, but this was a singularly painful way to spend all my money in pursuit of a series of cheap plastic trophies.

I don't suppose I'll be a particularly active member here to be honest, as admitted, I'm a crap driver, with a rather old-fashioned taste in cars. However, I do like hanging around racetracks, so will bump into several of you at Snett no doubt while holding spanners and/or tea for James.

PS. Hello James. Hello Andy. And anyone else that knows me.
