Dyno run 4 - 20th July

Post by pablo »

This was our 4th dyno run with the car since October last year.
The first run of the day it produced

217 bhp and 295 lb/ft

Excellant for accellerating out of bends but the accellaration would drop off as the revs climbed. So we had the timing advanced slightly. We also had the rev counter checking against a timing gun. The outcome explained why when the revs got to an indicated 5600rpm it sounded and felt as if we were hitting the rev limiter. We were :o the rev counter is 500 rpm out, so when I thought i was doing 5600 I was actually doing 6100 rpm

The second run of the day

223.6 bhp and 275 lb/ft

Since building the car we have increased power by.

40 bhp
61 lb/ft

These increases have been achieved by solving various problems and general tinkering and re-thinking how we have set things.

That is great work - but of course all that will go out of the window when you are overtaken by golf diesels on your first lap of the ring :) (which you will by the way and there is no shame in that)

By the time you do your last lap it will come into its own :D

When do you leave for Germany?

We are heading to Kent on Thursday evening to stop at a hotel, then we we set off from Brands Hatch Circuit at 10.00am Friday. :-D

A few little things to done like pick the spare fan belts, have the wheels balanced, things like that. Last day at work today and I couldn't stop smiling.

I know I'm repeating myself, but have a great time and remember to enjoy it. Nerves can spoil things sometimes.

Tremendous results with the car, you must be deighted that you have persevered the way that you have. Congratulations guys :thumb:

When we started this project our targets were
250 bhp & 280 lb/ft

We are now pushing
223 bhp & 275 lb/ft

To say that we are happy would be an understatement. We still carn't believe it.
I have got one more upgrade planned for this engine, hopefully it will be installed after Ford Fair and before the RS National Day (mid August). I want to wait and see how things go first before moving on.

If all goes to plan that will be the final upgrade to this engine before it is lifted out complete. :D
