pc advice
Where is the pc in relation to the wireless hub ? Same room , floor etc ? The further they are away and the more walls etc it has to go through the bigger amount of distortion you will get.
You should be able to get a wireless card for your pc which means you should connect to your hub easily enough.
The wireless hub will allow multiple connections as the pcs ip address is different than your wifes laptop.

seeing as tho your broadband connection is only 6MB (I say that as it is nothing in wireless terms); Then the slowest commonly available wireless, '11b' 11mb/s, will not be a bottlenect on your network and will not slow things down. With this you would only notice speed when transfering files around the computers within the house.
The question is what your BT wireless hub supports: 11b, 54g, speedboost 54g @108mb/s, or the new wireless N. What model number hub?
I suggest you get a 54g network card for the PC, and if you are not happy fitting hardware, then a USB wireless adaptor would just plug in - 30 feet should be no problem for any of the above ;-)
54g is not much more expensive, 'N' is very expensive for what it is at the moment as it is new (officially the the design is not finished for it as a standard).
