hi everyone i thought i'd show you lot a few shots of my car nearing the end of the build process as a few were interested

only got a few pictures as again the light in the workshops not very god for photo's but is great at keeping me warm and dry :-D

what the car will end up looking like but a bit lower and cleaner

a shot of the engine work being done changing the big ends and main bearings, front and rear crankshaft oil seals

a shot of the engine next to a CA18 to show that the RB is nearly as wide as the CA is long

engine and gearbox fitted

engine fitted to the car minus the rocker covers

and now a few of the engine and ancillaries fully fitted apart from radiator, power steering pump and reservoir (the air filters will be moved just temp fitted so could start car)

also managed to start car last Thursday after a bit of faffing around mainly my fault connecting the fuel delivery and return pipes wrong way round :roll: and could only let it idle for a few secs as now radiator fitted but sounded absolutely lovely just. Just got to fit radiator fill up coolant and make sure theres no leaks or bad noises coming from the engine then take it for a drive hopefully at the weekend, then onto an MOT (please pass) then to Gary's for a power fun

once i take it outside of the unit will get some pictures of the interior and some more up to date pictures of the exterior(after a wash)

lol i do apologies

don't know how it drive yet as still to bleed front brakes patch up a bit of the rear sill, bleed clutch, fit and bleed radiator, fit and bleed power steering system, and check for any leaks in oil and water system hopefully first drive will be sat or poss Sunday.

power unsure but will be a bit higher than standard gtr power but will take a trip to gary for a power run on his rolling road

and hopefully the car will be running good for its first trackday at Marhams in September(if they ever let us rafy types know how to get names down lol)
and as soon as its got some MOT, tax and insurance will fetch it along to one of the meets

Lovely conversion mate,
You should have over 300bhp with filters and exhaust as the rb26 is normally over the gentlemans 280bhp

well little update this week has been a case of 1 step forwards 3 steps back

got the welding done on both sills and the power steering pump and radiator fitted yah! you'd probably hear me saying if i wasn't shouting b@@locks in fitting my temperature sensor to the water outlet from the car to radiator i needed a certain size tap that i did not have bugger, not to worry i thought quick trip to kings lynn (about 2pm sat) and to local nut 's and bolts supplier only to find there shut

okay i thought do something else and try and get some time of work Monday to shoot in to town, so set about puling the turbos off to replace the elbow with some that had o2 sensors fitted only for me to find out that both turbo wouldn't spin freely, in fact they were very stiff

this meant all plans had changed and i had to find out why they wouldn't spin only to find out there was some blue roll stuck in both exhaust sides of the turbos , in the end i had to take the exhaust housing off to remove all traces of the offending item. I've still got the front turbo to do tomorrow night but both turbos still look in good knick and looks like the blue roll hasn't done any damage to the turbine wheels and the seals still seem to be intact with no extra movement found

a bit of a step back but lets hope next week brings more fortune hope to drive it soon as I'm trying to get the M.O.T booked for a week Wednesday figures crossed

anotehr chapter of the car

it had an MOT yesterday of which it passed with two advisories n/s/f lower coilover mount was loose I'd not locked the locking collars of tight enough and surface rust on all 4 brake discs (they've not done much for 8 months) emissions wise tested as not cat test :-D with 0.149 % vol CO (limit 3.5) and HC 390 ppm vol (limit 1200) this left me with a big grin on my face until i hit the a47 a couple of hours later and it decided to drop al the coolant out of the car via one of the heater matrix pipes

managed to fix the leak and get it back to camp before the said pipe blew off again, think I've narrowed it down to a jubilee clip that wouldn't tighten down enough. I've now replaced ad took for a spin and all seems better but need re-bleeding and I've run out of time had to come home to sort out some stuff so wont be able to enjoy driving it for a couple of weeks

but the few miles i did get was absolutely fantastic :-D :-D

edit** will get some pictures and video clips of it when i go back in a couple of weeks hopefully have some sun aswell 8)

I am Ian who sold you the standard elbows and breather pipes etc.

Good to see the project is coming along nicely for you.

Looks like you did not use the stock intercooler pipes in the end?

hello mate i've not been a member long

yeah didnt use the elbow's but the jubilee lips came in useful the whole pipework needs sorting properly as it's got quite a retriction on the hot side of the intercooler pipework
