mk1 mr2

Post by gtst lad »

Bought this off Jungle Jim the other day, thanks fella.

Progress so far.

Bought used transaxle from scrappy as before i even saw the car i was eventually going to buy i knew it needed the diff either welding or a good 2-way fitted, budget said weld diff.

Welded the diff and reassembled gearbox

Then did a deal with Jungle-jim via another forum and bought another engine that i knew of to replace the dead one in his car.

Then Jim delivered the car for me (huge thanks matey)

So next job was to get the car up in the air and remove the dead engine and gearbox.

So the engine is now out, just got to swap a few things over to the new engine and box, refit and fingers crossed it'll be back up and running for the drift day next week. :D

Nice project, its good to see the car will live on in the club. Bit of an unusual choice for drifting being mr but should be interesting. :thumb:

Cheers :D , yep it'll certainly be intresting.

I've got the idea in my head that with a bit of toe in at the rear, some positive camber and the right tyres upfront (will take alot more trial and error) it'll work.

Should be good fun trying 8)

Paul, you're mad!! :D (In a good way)
I am delighted that you're staying involved with drifting and it's nice to see the 'Slag' stay in the club but you have taken on a hell of a challenge this time.....getting it to drift I mean, Nice to see the old GTR rims are coming in handy too. Nothing if not rersourceful eh ;)

Thanks 8) sure i'll do the car proud.

Your not wrong Stu it's definately going to be a challenge, tbh though i'm not planning on being competitive with it or entering any comps.
Cars purely going to be a toy which'll get trailered to any event where i can have a bit of fun in it :D

You say that now, but I've seen you and cars for a few years now :D

Go for it mate. The skill you have with spanners is matched by the pedalling bit, I reckon if anyone can get that bugger sideways it'll be you :thumb:
