Just had a look in the SD box and it's only a series of fabricated plates with nuts welded in a few places. Nothing that looks like it goes underneath the car.stuartstaples wrote:Yes you can Blacky, I did with the Sierra. The plates came as part of the 'kit' from SD but I have no idea whether they still do as I bought mine back in 2003. If they are not included anymore they are a very simple fabrication job (for a man of your calibre) or you can buy them from someone Rally Design.blacky wrote: can't you weld them under the floor skin on the outerside?
Did you get your plates direct from safery devices?

The plates go underneath the car Gerry and the cage bolts up to them. It was easier with the Golf to make some up to weld on top rather than underneath. We decided to use slightly bigger plates to help spread the load a bit too.

The series regs wouldn't let me weld in the cage so I just drilled through the lot and bolted them up with high tensile bolts.

 About time I stripped it out and offered the cage up then.
Are they supposed to be welded to the underside or just sandwich the floor section? I just assumed they'd be welded inside.
Thinking about it, if the plates weren't welded I'd have the old ones with the cage.
