GTI-R

Post by Tk »

well as some of you know i had the grey gti-r and its now long gone to a new owner, i have had this black non sunroof one for several months and its finally getting used after an engine swap amongst other things.

i bought the car as a non runner, it was smoking badly and running on three so i knew it needed quite a bit of work but it was not loads of money so i thought i would take it on , one of the reasons i bought it is because it didnt have a sunroof like my grey one, the roof was very low due to the sunroof and uncomfortable with a bash hat on,
here is a pic when i bought it

Image

it sat around in this state for a some time whilst i decided what to do i eventually found a second hand engine that was sold to me in good condition with no nasty noises always run at standard boost and still limited to 112mph well it turned out it was'nt free of nasty noises and the topend does sound a bit noisy especially from cold , its still the same but its useable, plan is to run this engine and rebuild the one i taken out with some forged goodies,

heres how it looks now

i still have the white oz wrc's and also have a set of white compomotive mo's but the black rims have nice new toyos fitted so there what im using for the road at the moment,

interior has been stripped as much as i possibly could apart from dash and front door cards, i fitted a drivers side bucket seat today and sparco harness, i didnt get round to fitting the passenger side due to f1 gp

Image

also recently fitted tein coilovers with pillowball topmounts and wilwood four pots brakes / wilwood trackspec pads and braided hoses

Image

so here is the spec at the moment :
engine with standard internals currently 0.9 bar boost (soon to be 1.1 bar after a trip to E/A)
tein coilovers with adjustable topmounts
wilwood 285 fourpot calipers/discs/pads/hoses
helix organic clutch
nismo rear strutbrace
nismo front strutbrace (to be fitted)
mocol oil cooler (to be fitted)
blue silicone water hoses
blitz boost gauge
hks evc boost controller (to be fitted)
hybrid frontmount intercooler (to be fitted)
mongoose full exhaust including de-cat and downpipe
small momo steering wheel
sump gaurd (going to take this off though)
also still waiting for my full rollcage to be made from the rollcentre

i havent got a clue what power its putting out but will find out soon enough once i got a few more bits fitted and take it to engine advantages for a set up, it feels quite strong at the moment

well it will be ready enough for the snetterton 1/4 mile night on the 18th and looking forward to a few laps at snetterton in august

thanks everyone i love the gtir's but there a complete bitch, and i'l be a lot happier when i get a towbar to take it to events on a trailer as i fear for the gearbox destroying itself, or something else
would also love to do a sprint or two in the future to see how they fare against the scoobs an evos etc.. i know there a different class handling wise but should be good fun. the teins have made such an improvement its unreal to the handling, also looking to fit a whiteline rear arb soon aswell to improve the front end ,

cheers for the offer eddy but i'l get the engine bits and pieces direct from usa as there so cheap i cant say no .
