a quick update...

after using it for the first time in anger on the track at snetterton we had a few problems with the turbo

after driving from the unit to snetterton the airfilter had worked its way of and had sucked some thing in damaging the front compressor wheel,as if this wasnt bad enough we also lost a few bolts from the back housing of the turbo and this caused the housing to to go out of shape as a result touched the rotating parts.

this meant that the turbo had to recored so now its all back together and all bolts have been lock wired to stop it happening again

the car has also had all the rear seats and boot sound deading removed,at the same time all in car entertainment has been removed.

ive just had got a new sparco steering wheel and removeable boss for xmas thanks to my missus!!!!

i think the next purchase after xmas will be a new dash board that will plug in to motec ecu and display all sensors ......

i need to post a few updates of were we are now at,heres a start.....

The EVO RS Rear Diff conversion is now fitted. This is a steel-cased diff with no gadgetry and is what is usually fitted to the high-horsepower car's with good results. Of course the car has a much more 'real' feel, so you know where you are with it, instead of the computer sorting it all out so-to-speak.

We have also just complete a full gearbox rebuild using a brand-new Evo 9 GT gearkit. This has diffierent ratio's from what was in the car. We found that on track and in some of the sprint classes (particularly 30-130mph) the transition from 4th to 5th gear had a huge drop-off, these improved ratio's should address this, though will cap the top speed to under 160mph.

At this time we decided to take a look at the clutch (we fitted an Exedy Twin Plate last year) and since it was in good condition it would have been rude to leave it there!! So we sold it!!

In it's place is an Exedy Hyper Compe-R Twin Plate unit. This features an Ultra Lightweight Low Inertia drilled flywheel, rigid Low Inertia discs and an Aluminium cover. The result is a fantastic clutch that is great to drive with and the whole thing weighs around 4kg less than the previous twin-plate.

LET'S GO LAUNCHING!!

Next up is the Engine bay. The standard Evo Breather system has it's inadequacies, so we have fitted a Weapon-R Breather Tank, which is designed to fit in the triangular gap in the factory Strut-Brace. However, this tank comes with small push-on type connectors. This just didn't cut it. So we hacked those off and had -10 Alloy connectors welded on. The Rocker Cover was also drilled and tapped for -10. This meant that we could pipe the entire breather system in -10 pipework with the appropriate fittings......

We also re-piped the Boost Control Valve with Steel-Braided Hose.....

Next up, we have finally fitted and got working the AIM Dash. This has been a bit of a mission as it requires all the warning lights to go through a re-think!! A good friend of mine made the Carbon-Fibre Binnacle too, which we are extremely impressed with!! You can also see the new Sparco Suede Steering Wheel and Quick Release Boss in these pics......

The new Sparco Pro 2000's now sit on Bride Runners, so have full sliding adjustment and there will be a set of Black Harnesses going in shortly. The rear interior is completely gone now too.

Also, as an update on the power side of things. We have seen almost 570bhp at under 1.8 bar of boost. 460bhp at the wheels. This is on V-Power and considering that the kit can easily run 2.2 bar, infact it could run 2.5 bar, though we won't go that far, I think our target of 600bhp should be easy to achieve. I will add some more information and graphs as and when we get time to get on with the mapping.
