Nothing like a bit of understeer round the hairpin mate  . I just popped the tyres we used there off the rims and smiled to myself about that.

:pmsl: We nearly ended up in Fakenham a couple of times, those tyres did take a serious beating that day though

Now my Gti is being called into angry use, I need advice.

I have asked SteveVR6 about the quirky 'cock a rear wheel' handling but I cannot get my head around the whole thing........

You mentioned super duper coilovers...... are the Gaz bits valved differently or is it just custom rate springs or is it all trade secrets F1 stylee :D

Have you got any interior pictures of your car? I'm interested in the cage layout. Also, is yours a 16v? Any idea of power or more importantly, power to weight?

Cheers Bud :thumb:

I've just sent you a lengthy PM that I don't think got sent correctly.
My take on the cock-a-leg is to do with the front corner falling over. Its a bit of a spring rate/damping compromise.
Stiff will keep it on the deck but will sacrifice a bit of turn in and dreaded mid corner push.
Soft and it will be like a young puppy cocking its leg at any chance it gets.
The pic in my sig is a bit misleading as it was taken at the end of a drying race at Cadwell with no damping on the front at all.
The coilovers are black magic  with custom spring rates that I'll explain in the PM.
I'll take some upclose shots of the cage and add to the thread.
It started life as an early Saftey Devices cage that we tweaked in places.
I can't take much more weight out of the car and still remain in the series regs but given the chance......
I would grind off every bracket, spare piece of wiring loom, locks etc I could, put back on my lightend doors, attack some of the interior skining with a 3" hole cutter and finally scrape of all the rubberised underseal from the bottom of the car.
There is also 4Kg's of "tar" in the driver and passenger footwells. It is a bit of a mission to remove but some dry ice, petrol and elbow grease does the trick.
Mines an 8v running the Series cam and soon the object in the pic I sent you last week. I've also changed round the exhaust a bit for '08.
The cam is profiled by Newman based on their 272 fast road cam with 11mm lift and makes a considerable amount of difference over the OEM cam.
Given the choice I would run a Piper 280 cam for track work although it would be a pig to drive anywhere in town and would propably die at every set of traffic lights.
